Someone please remind me why I am supposed to love this car. mad.gif

On the way to work this morning, just after filling up, pull onto the hiway and slowly get into the throttle. Just as I'm shifting into 3rd at a modest 50mph whoof.... WTF was that? Car is a complete dog... first thought is blown intercooler line... pull over and pop the hood. Nope, everything's tight. Oh shit. Start it up again. This time white smoke that I hadn't noticed earlier pours from the exhaust. Oh F@#$!!

Best guess at this point is either a head gasket or turbo that blew. Car has been eating (not leaking) antifreeze for the last couple weeks.

Pricing different turbos, just to prepare myself for a high price tag. Placed a call to Pioneer Park for grins... Anyone care to guess what a factory fresh 14b runs from the dealer....

Make sure you're sitting for this one....

$1,427.16... plus tax.. blink.gif

it sounds funny to say this..., but Marlow's in pekin has a rebuilt 14b for sale. I think it might be Whitacker's old one. I am not for sure. Just so you knew.

Do you know what they are asking? I've got to verify that's the problem, but I'm pretty sure... I think.... unsure.gif

If you're feeling handy I've got a line on a blown 16G that could be had for cheap. Shell out for a rebuild kit and your got a pretty cheap 16G there. Unfortunately it would entail downtime and labor though.

I think you can send them off for a rebuild to a few places for a bit over $300.

I have no clue what's going on. Pulled the intake and downpipe, nothing out of the ordinary there. Pulled the plugs, didn't look waterfouled or anything. I'd like to borrow a compression tester from someone if I could. That would rule out the head gasket... or confirm it... sad.gif
