We have now reserved the Cordova dragstrip on September 21, 2003 for all our local Sport Compact racers to show their stuff and have some fun in a safe and legal environment.

There are still some details to work out, but things are on a roll. We envision between 20-50 people joining in on this event. With this small number of racers there will be no problem getting as many runs as you like!

That's a good question. Are we able to run more than one vechile for the one entrance fee? If so, I wouldn't mind making a pass or two with the truck, just for kicks. Maybe something that will have to be worked out at the next meeting.

I've thought about this and initially my feeling is that we will only charge per driver. Whatever car he/she drives or how many they bring would be up to them.

This brings up a good point though. To those already involved and those that would like to help, we need to get together again soon to make sure we are getting the details taken care of.

Unless/until Cordova management comes up with a more organized way to run this program, I plan on the event being run like a Test & Tune. Where each driver will run what ever they are racing as many times as they can or want and give us a copy of their fastest time slip for each vehicle.

You won't necessarily have the 2nd fastest FWD racing the Fastest FWD in a stand-off. The best time slip for each vehicle will be the decision maker.

Depending on Cordova's input and possibly more automation/cost, we may end up having to charge per race car, to cover keeping track of so many. I'll let you know.

I would like to make it so that we can pick who we want to run against to some extent (grude matches and the like). I really don't want to be racing 18 sec honda's all day.

Yeah at test and tunes you can asked to be lined up with who ever you want. So it will be that much easier to do that since, for one there will only be 20-50 racers and number two we will be controlling how it goes down.

Will their be a couple helmets that can be borrowed? I just realized that I need one to run 13.99 or quicker, and this POS better be able to pull better than that!

I will bring two Bell helmets with me a medium and a Large. I will not need them, but none the less I will bring them for people to use.

I'll take you up on one of those helmets, Mike. Might seem kinda weird to the Cordova staff if I drove up to the box with a roll cage, 5-point harness, and no helmet.

Kind of hard to pull a "I didnt know I could run 12's" when you have all of that stuff on your car!

if they're going to require that you wear a helmet will I get thrown out for no roll cage then? it would really suck to only get one run for 50.

Not sure what you hope to run Kris, but if it's gonna be faster than 11.99, that could be a real possibility. Cordova has never been real good at teching cars that I've seen, but then I've never run faster than a 13.9... I'd say take it easy for the first couple runs and see what happens.

Is a roll cage required for 11's? I thought it was only required for 10's or faster. Then again, maybe Kris'll be in the 10's. Can anyone clear this up?
