ok, here it goes:
the '93 GSX has run at 135 before I ran out of "track" the '99 Dakota R/T was factory governed at 116 mph, but with a red line of 5 g's it was only at 4 the '93 Sunbird has a speedo of 110 but I havce had that well buried, asked the guy I was racing and he said we were upwards of 130 the '84 S-10 (small block V-8) had a speedo of 85, I've had the needle wrapped around and back to the 60 mark (what ever that is) all posted speeds were also done under "controlled environments" ![]() -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

QUOTE (spyonu2007 @ Nov 12 2003, 04:16 PM) These runs were done in controlled environments. Done at the racetrack, right? I buried the speedomoter past 85 in a 2.8 powered Celebrity. I have proof that I did 120 in a certain 1.8 Laser focus won't go faster than 110. 125 in an assmatic laser. (FUN ![]() -------------------- -The original (member) 007. Stop looking at me Spy!!

I've had a couple v6 s-10's that were governed to 95-97
Had the 93 GSX up to 125 back in the day... Haven't gone faster than 85 or 90 since I got two speeding tickets last year... ![]() -------------------- The fastest car I own is a minivan....

my first car a 94 taurus that had a governor set at about 95 and a speedo of 85, i had that car to 95 many times.
my 92 jeep cherokee i had that to 100 or so. 99 grand prix gt, governed at 117, had it there once racing a cobra. after that a friend got a viper gts and we took that up to 186 i believe. 186 is scary, very very scary. another friend had a 76 trans am 400ci auto, that thing rocked! about 200hp, and about 350tq, that was the car that i learned that at 140mph, the traffic doing 65-70 seems like it's not moving. also very very scary. my 94 eclipse 2.0 n/a 140 going down a really big hill. and my newest car a 2000 eciple gt 5sp, 125, and i have no idea what it's governed at. |

If you subtract 10 from where my speedo was actually at I went 160. On a test track in Mexico. That makes me the fastest in CANADA!!!

oh oh oh.....one time I hit 54.5! and I would never do that kind of speed with traffic in either direction. You never know when someone will descide to use the lane your about to pass them in.

On our way down to Florida in the GSX we hit 150mph being chased by a redneck in a dually with flashing strobe lights
![]() We were out with a bunch of the motorcycle guys and I twisted the throttle on the Triumph for a 160mph run.....With Kate yelling at me on the back ![]() On my 94 Katana 750 on our way to Taylorville we blurred the center lines with a 150mph run on one of IL most deadly roads....RT29 ![]() |

on my 2003 ninja 500 R I went 115 before I chickened out, the factory says it will do 137, but I'll take their word for it!!!! ![]() -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

Approx. 160 in a 76 Linclon Town Car with a 460:o Speedo only read 85 but passed a friend fairly quickly that said that his speedo was reading 130
only had my car to about 122 before I had to hit the brakes for a stop sign 140 in a 79 T.A. with a 405 135 in a 79 Monte Carlo with a 283 135 in a 76 Javelin 130 in a 67 Chevy Stepside with the same 283 125 in a 87 Daytona with a 2.5 125 in a 86 Lebaron with a 2.5 turbo(swapped in) 120 in a 83 Chevy C1500 with a 305 120 in a 90? Shadow 120 in a 89 Grand Am with a 2.5 115 in a 93 Blazer with a 4.3 115 in a 91 Grand Prix with a 3.1 110 in a 86 Astro The Lincoln was the only one that was completely topped out, the rest I just ran out of road -------------------- Brian J

Lets see:
75 Mercury Montego- 140 79 Camaro- 150 very scary the front end felt like it was floating next to a 5.0 79 Z28- 110 gears wouldnt let it do more 75 Cutlass Supreme- 150 so the speedo says with only front brakes 96 Yamaha FZR 600R- 145 98 Yamaha R1- 186 next to another R1 felt the most safe 96 Eclipse- 130 89 Rx-7- 140 felt great the faster we went did this on Uton black top. But its really hard to say because most speedos arent accurate except maybe the R1 it seemed to get more accurate the faster you went and it was clocked. |

I got to 130 in the '97 TSi AWD then shit myself.
But more recently I got 140 in my new VW Jetta GLI VR6, believe it or not it was still smooth. Of course if you flip open the gas door it has Two sets of tire pressure ratings on it. One for under 100 mph and the other for sustained speeds in excess of 100 mph. -------------------- Jarrad Asay

Cracked the 150mph mark in a Eurospec Porsche 928S. It was still so rock steady you could have took your hands off the wheel. Steadier than my beater is at 90mph
