im startin to think its the center diff that i killed the other night....they had something on the vfaq that says if the center diff goes out you might hear loud clunking from trans, car wants to die in reverse and turning, happens after hard launch....all of which are happening to me....so its time to decide if im gonna build the trans or replace it with stock parts and stop racin it (for now)....decisions, decisions....

You can get a good idea of tranny parts costs by checking out TRE's website here:

Really other than the center diff, everything else is just factory parts gear wise. The forks can be upgraded to steel ones. I read TRE site about heavy duty synchros? I have not tried them, but I do shift 9000 rpms with whatever the dealer has. Does heavy duty=double synchro, ie 93-94 and 2g transmissions?

If I remember right, Josh compared TRE's heavy-duty synchros side-by-side to the stock synchros and couldn't see any difference. Unless its a difference that can't be seen, I'd almost say that TRE is just blowin' smoke as far as the synchros go anyway. Their steel shift forks are good pieces though. I haven't broke them after going through three sets of factory aluminum forks. biggrin.gif Marcus seems to like his TRE spool for locking the center diff as well.

alright so if i wanted to build a trans that can take some abuse but not go too deep into the wallet, what should i be looking at getting?

by looking at TRE website i was thinking the gvr4 1st and the steel shift forks?
