With recient setbacks I'm planning to get out of the DSM game for a while. Believe me this is not something I'm happy about. These cars are eating me alive. I really need to start putting my money somewhere where it can do me some good instead of somewhere that it breaks.
That being said, all of my stuff will be up for sale in about three weeks. I'll throw up a complete list of everything to be parted out at that time. Thanks, Nathan -------------------- GVR4 866/1000 = the perpetually broken car

Nate,
I am terribly sorry to hear that you are getting out. I must concur with the others that your knowledge will help others with their DSM's. I hope to hear you with another bad pooper ride soon. If you're selling the motor, does that mean you are parting out the galant? What car are you going to be driving in then? -------------------- -The original (member) 007. Stop looking at me Spy!!

How did you do your relocation of the battery? Did you have a tray and all of that, or did you just throw it back in the trunk? If you have the tray and a red top, I would love to pick that up.

I don't know what your thinking Nate, but I was thinking a single 14b at 7psi nonintercooled would suit him pretty well for the way he drives. The only thing I'd like to see would be a 7cm housing on her. As for you plans, well mine were about the same. I had intended on using a 14b to turbo my car and only to spend $1000 at most. We see where that went. It seems the longer your car sits the bigger your plans get. -------------------- GVR4 866/1000 = the perpetually broken car

Nate (NC Galant),
I actually have an 80A breaker just sitting around. I couldn't remember what was the size breaker you used. Hmm... Didn't know you could go with an 80. I guess it makes sense because the alternator only puts out roughly 65A. I am still interested in the '90 throttle body w/ sensors, too, by the way. -------------------- -The original (member) 007. cool, I'll dig it up, and that flange was under my seat. I just must not have seen it around all of my other junk.
BTW, the 80A does pop if I crank it for very long in the winter. That and my galant has a 90A alternator ![]() -------------------- GVR4 866/1000 = the perpetually broken car

Might wanna opt for an intercooler anyway considering how cheap you can buy DSM smic's for. I imagine he may see some creep with 3 liters of Ford V6 muscle pushing on a little 14b. An intercooler would help keep the temp down if this happens. |

So why are you giving up on the DSM?
When you say the car is eating you alive, you mean it costs too much to repair/maintain? Why do all of your projects seem to cost more than you expected? Does the added HP stress the rest of the car too much? |

I've got a lot of bills in general and the car needed lots of cash to be thrown at it(struts, springs, tires, rims, rotors, etc).
My projects always went well when I worked on her, I had just done to many and sunk myself into debt to do them. I wasn't in over my head, as I was getting out, but it would have been a year before I was clean and by then I'd like to have a house. There will undoubtedly be another project car starting in a year or so. I can already feel the modgremlines biting. -------------------- GVR4 866/1000 = the perpetually broken car
