Get a Summit or Jegs catalog and flip to the ls1/lt1 section (yes, they have their own section).... Cams, headers, heads, exhaust, gears, and anything else your heart could desire for a lt1 motor... and then some.

I don't think 400whp should be a huge deal... It'll be getting the power to the ground that will be the big challange...

Screw the LTx setup and go with an LS1. Then go to lgmotorsports.com and pick a nice healthy cam.....now you'll have a bit over 400 rwhp with a set of longtubes.

I know, I'm saying swap in an LS1. That'd be a hell of a lot more efficient than swapping in an LT4.

You don't swap the whole engine. You change some parts to make it an LT4. Its a kit.

Here's the first thing I found, LS1 longblock with tranny for $3800

http://search.ebay.com/ls1-motor_W0QQsofoc...ntrypageZsearch

Here's the kit for the LT4 conversion fir $2300

http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?...searchtype=ecat

I'm sure you can find a cheaper motor than that LS1 but I'm saying that it's comparable if you did some shopping, plus you get a hell of a better engine. Fun little project too.

james? gimme fuel gimee fire gimme that blah blah blah something DESIRE! bwa haha . I'm SURE he drives an LT1.

You need a much bigger mullet to run that kind of v8 swap spy. You better start letting your head's mudflap grow now so by springtime you'll have radical mulletude. Also do you have the requisite number of household appliances strategically positioned in the front lawn?

Look, I pop back in to see what is going on back in DSM land and you guys are talking about LT-1s. My heart just swells with pride biggrin.gif

The LT-4 kit alone is not going to get you to 400 rwhp, I think your expected numbers are a little high. The LT-4 kit with the GM Hot cam is usually good for 340 - 365 rwhp depending on other mods and how good your tune is. You need a bigger cam and maybe a little head work to get a stock bottom end LT-1 into the 400 rwhp range. There is a guy out east here named Joe Overton who has had good success specing out cams that put stock bottom end LT1 into the 400 rwhp range. To get to the 450 -500 rwhp NA you usually need to go to a solid roller set up, big head, and a stroker.

My 396 LT-4 has home ported LT-4 heads, GM 847 cam, and long tube headers and puts down about 435 rwhp and 431 rwt.

PS How did I get the name that other car that we shall not name Killer dry.gif smile.gif

NEIL! Good to hear from you again! biggthumpup.gif

Youre experience with the late model GM V8 family is surely priceless on this subject. Stick around.
