2nd Annual Arctic Open Cruise 1/23/05
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2nd Annual Artic Open Cruise Last year's cruise was by all accounts a smashing success. So, in the spirit of Polar Bear Clubs everywhere (the crazies who jump into Lake Michigan in January), we'll be having the Second Annual Artic Open Cruise. Cruise to FC Customs in Springfield, catch a bite to eat locally, and then Hit The Dyno. And we thought our cars were up for the winter. Who's up for sucking it up, braving whatever weather January can throw at us, and running a cruise in the middle of winter? FC Customs wants a commitment of at least 5 cars to open the dyno for us. As of tonite we already have 3. Cost for dyno will be $45 for 3 runs. DATE IS JANUARY 23rd more details to come!@ This is posted up on CII and I thought I'd share with all of you good people . Meeting at Max's Sports bar on Dirksen 12:30 - 1 and after we have a bite to eat it's off to the shop for Dyno pulls. _________________ |

ranta the h22 del sol put down 184 i think. there was a Z there that put down 280 something. a civic SI that put down a 130 and a swaped hatchback to remain nameless threw down the loudest 105HP i have ever heard... my ears hurt for 20mins after the run. raceen put down 201 in his mercedes but the guy didn't bring it up to redline because it was an 80K mercedes. and it the second run where he had permission to run it it shifted on him so the run was worthless. ryan02stang put down 269HP untuned in his blown mustang. can't think of any more cars right now. there were no dsm's. wort didn't run the T-type and travis didn't to run the truck because there was no way to count RPM's with their setup.
overall the cruise and dyno was awsome. huge thanks to chad and FC customs for hosting the event. i think we all had a blast. -------------------- ![]() |

Pump gas sucks.
288hp on 15psi, max torque of 335 but it probably missed the real torque peak as its usually down around 2500rpm instead of the 3700rpm that WOT for the run started at. -------------------- Eric Wort

Sweet numbers on the H22/Del Sol
We finished up that H22/Civic Friday and put down 185 whp and 155 tq http://www.rndauto.com/tom.htm 13's on street tires in that car will be easy. Too bad Rizzo didn't go. For how much smack he talks about Honduhs, Ryan might have felt dumb seeing a Civic making more power than he did. -------------------- |

Man, you guys sure like to be negative. Go read up on what a stock H22 normally pulls on the dyno and then talk. I think I know a little more about them than you. 185 at the wheels for a stock motor with a intake and exhaust is a good number. Plus I was being nice and giving the guy props for dynoing and having that motor in a del sol.
H22 Flywheel Ratings: USDM H22 (10:1) 190 HP @ 6800 rpm 158 TQ @ 5500 rpm JDM H22 (10.6:1) 197 HP @ 6800 rpm 161 TQ @ 5500 rpm That would mean he is making around 15 hp more than the JDM motor. Oh well... I'm sure Rizzo won't let me down at the track -------------------- |

Its cool. I wasn't trying to be cocky about my H22 knowledge. Its just that I know that motor inside and out and what it does hp wise stock and with mods. I was mainly saying good job to the kid who owns it and I bet that car is quick (high 13's) for just a swap and stock engine.
On topic... we should edit the first post to have a listing of the dyno results and the car/engine they had. -------------------- |

I'd expect it to bump to somewhere around 220 at the crank after intake, header, exhaust, + basic mods (not positive what all he had done as I was a bit busy that day). Take off a 15% drivetrain loss from there and you've got 187 (assuming my poor math skills are up to par). Not that it's not an improvement over stock but that it should be pretty much what's expected. Everyone's point I believe it that it was nothing shocking. What did your latest install and dyno tune of that H22 yield? Also, you have to remember that you're on a DSM site here. So most of us do the mental math on the cost of the swap, exhaust work, etc and realize that we can make much better numbers on DSMs. Just another way to look at it from most of our perspectives. Take it for what you will. -------------------- |

LOL!!!! All that just to try and prove me wrong and you still didn't. I don't care what your hours of internet "research" try to show. I know Jeff at Import Builders/Import Review and if you acutally look at the dynos on that site, there wasn't one over 180 that didn't have something other than intake, header, and exhaust done. Most with intake, header, and exhaust made 165-175. Fact is, 184 is a good number for a H22 with just intake, header, and exhaust. And I'm not going to waste my time going around the internet looking for stuff to back up my statements.
Since you asked... The H22 we just did made 185 whp and 155 ft-lbs with a OEM ITR intake, Greddy header, Invidia exhaust, and R&D Auto tuned V-AFC The 155 ft-lbs is also a lot more than most make with those mods or at 185 whp. More info... http://www.rndauto.com/tom.htm Where did this become a Honduh vs DSM / Money vs Performance thread? You guys seem hell bent on proving me wrong when all I was trying to do was say good job to the kid that had the car. Let it go. -------------------- |

I'm getting very tired of this same old ego trip. No one on here cares how much anyone knows about H O N D A S! This is a DSM forum...Get it!? That's the perspective we look at facts from. Period.
I understand Ranta was congratulating the H22 guy. Great. I also don't see how Travis was trying to prove anyone wrong but it has been put in that context now. Besides, 170-200whp is just a stock purchase away with many vehicles these days. This is Refreakindiculous! -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

QUOTE I was pissed and I put down 123whp, one less than the stock rated crank, Doug, I know you have worked really hard on your car. So this is not meant to be a slam. But, the look of dissapointment in your face, and several posts about it later, I recommend: 1. Sell that car. Do not put anymore money into it. - You are going to take a hit. Period. Don't make it worse. 2. Although this is a DSM site, if you are frustrated with the 'way' that car treats you all the time... break downs, wheel studs, etc... I know you were debating betweening dsm or ls... don't go DSM. More than likely it will let down from time to time... If that is a source of aggrevation, it's not wise in my opinon.. - that is unless the dyno slips of POWA will make weigh out the aggrevating way she 'treats' you, enough for you. 3. Go Ls... You know you want to you domestic boy. Like I said, I'm not trying to make you cry... Just trying help a brotha in need of a smile. -------------------- game over.

well no matter what I keep the car till the summer, cuz I wont fully own it till then................
unfortunately I have some repairs to do ANYWAYS before I could sell it that I put up with daily but will lower the selling price more than the hit to fix it Ellis would be great, and while I have been developing a budding love for yellow IS300's a Ellis Vette is getting the same price range! The issue is of course, waiting till I can save up the 7ishK DP I would wanna have to not take out a huge loan on teh vette, and still have a crapass car to drive around anyways alas gradumalation is 3.2 months away, and hopefully a fulltime job will soon follow! the thought is appreciated, and I will still prolly blow a bit more cash doing some dynopulls with my stock injectors back in to see how it goes when I am not popping codes like a a 2dollar whore pops pills --------------------
