is it really important?? cause Ive got one of the 2 screws that is seriously rusted in there no slots what soever. Im debating what to do at this point. any ideas?

Soak it in liquid wrench or PB blaster. Tap it a few times. Just when you think you've soaked it enough...soak it some more. Use vise grips and crank on them hard. Just be careful not to kink the hard fuel line out of the pump. It should come loose.
