I am trying to buy this 91 eclipse gs-t off this kid in my town. he doesn't know squat about the car, it's completely stock (yay), and it's clean. only problem being it wouldn't start. he said last time he started it was a week ago and it just stopped running while it was warming up and he said it hasn't started since. it just goes click ugh (like the starter is trying to turn the bastard over. first thing i tried jumping it. (nothing) next troubleshot all elctrical (

Might want to check the power wire that goes to the starter. I've seen some where there is too much corrosion on the battery terminal (positive) and the actual starter motor wouldn't get power (solenoid would click but no starter action).
Also, you might want to unplug the clutch switch to make sure there isn't an issue there. If the engine turns over, try the old push start. It will help you isolate it to be a starter vs. an engine problem. Also, if it's sat for some time, starting fluid is your friend (won't affect the bad starter issue but will help the engine 'catch' and keep running when push starting). -------------------- |
