Both are automatics, but he has that Tip-Tronic shit so he can basically shift it like a manual.

free mods consist of removing emissions, hacking the MAF (removing outer canister, removing lower honey comb and silencer if you are getting fuel cut, more can be done the the 1G MAF but that is the easy stuff), boost controllers can be had for super cheap or made for cheaper ($5-10 at a hardware store), dropping the cat/catback for races
 , crushing the BOV to hold more boost after supporting mods are put on, porting if you feel comfortable doing it, the list goes on and on.
