Quick and dirty, folks. Revved engine up to 7k while accelerating, and a little past 7, it started hesitating like with a rev limiter, and after that the engine has ran really weird. It feels like a miss in the engine, but its not jerky. Just really weak. And it sort of growls instead of purrs. Very hard to describe.

Anyhow, it ran like this until I stopped and turned the car off. On restart, everything was normal. That is until a while later when I revved it high again.

At first I thought I might have jumped timing, but obviously, that doesn't just go away, so I'm thinking maybe loose plug wire, cloged injector or fuel filter perhaps? Any help would be greatly appreciated and needed. Thanks.

Found the problem. One of the wires was loose in the coil pack, and that caused some arcing which led to carbon build up inside the coil. Cleaned it out, and it runs like a champ. The associated plug did have some brown residue on it, too. And just to clarify the problem with the plugs I had, they came apart at the head, typically in three pieces. The first yank produced the rubber cap and wire end in hand. The second gave up the hard plastic shaft and bottom rubber boot. Then some needle nose pliers were required to finally fish out the metal plug connector. wacko.gif
