MAF Translator? Options

Kris, or Nate? I believe one of you two had this unit? How do ya'll like it? Any known negatives so far?

I tuned my car a few nights ago down to a max knock count of 7 at a boost pressure that starts at 16 and creeps to 20 at the end of every gear. This puts my injector duty cycle at about 86% max. at a base fuel pressure with (the vacuum line connected to the AFPR) at 38 psi. I expect my boost pressure to creep less in warmer weather, so I can set my boost to a steady 20 psi and hopefully see knock counts below 15.

I also had a SAFC and sold it as soon as I bought the translator. I'm glad I did, because tuning with the translator was very easy. No need for the SAFC. To me it would just add unneeded complexity. If you do decide to keep the SAFC for fine tuning it can be used in either the Karman Vortex mode (if it reads after the translator and before the ECU) or Hotwire mode (if it reads after the GM MAF and before the translator). I haven't heard of anyone posting any results from doing this yet.

Final verdict on the translator is....outstanding! You can't beat it for the money. It gives you all the tuning and airflow capabilities of a VPC at a fifth of the cost.

Just to clarify...this tuning was done on 650cc injectors, 255 lph fuel pump, fuel pressure regulated by a CAS AFPR, 16G turbo, CAS FMIC, and pump gas in 30 to 40 degree weather.

It feels like a mid to low 12 second car now, but only the track can tell for sure. Hmmm...I wonder what race gas will allow.
