I just went and picked up my new talon last night, Red in color TSI AWD. To my surprise I found that the guy I made the deal with took alot more than what he told me he wanted. I had wanted to use it stricktly as a drag car and keep my blue one as a DD.
He told me he wanted all the interior and some fuse blocks under the hood. Well... He got that and then some. I can't even try to start it no keys, ecu, radiator, cut the wires on the main fuse block under the hood and took it. I didn't mind him taking the interior, because that was just one thing I didn't have to remove to get it ready for my project.
I'm just going to make this LONG story short. I didn't get what I thought I was going to get. I feel I got screwed on my finders fees. When a man tells you he wants this this and this. That is what you would expect for him to take no more no less. This has just been eating me since I got home with it and found all this.
He also got the four best wheels, Which would have been no problem if they were all the aluminum. He took my winter wheels and left me with three stock aluminum and a steely. No fourth aluminum anywhere to be found. So now in the winter I have to run my aftermarkets. I also gave him a rebuilt JDM throttle body.
Now if I had known he was going to come and strip it for what it's worth, I would not have offered what he got from me.

So now what do I do with it? Do I scrap it out and sell what I can sell? Or do I try to put it back together? I do know that I am going to sell the sun roof out of it. I am just in AHH at what I found, As I love these cars.
If any of you want to see pics before he got ahold of it let me know by PMing me your email address. Let me know what you think guys.

Thanks, Bud!

Okay, before you guys play judge, jury, and executioner, I think I should be given the chance to defend myself. One guy spouts off at the mouth, and suddenly I become some sort of pariah. Well, haven't you guys learned at some point over the course of your life that there's three sides to every story: there's my side; there's your side; and there's what really happened. The truth is always somewhere in the middle. It's up to you to decide who's more trustworthy to figure out which side the truth lies closer to.

Well, before you bite on Bud's story, hook, line, and sinker, allow me the opportunity to present my side. You can decide from there who you believe. The first thing that I want to say is that Bud never bought that car at all. I gave it to him. Let me repeat that: he didn't spend one red cent on that automobile. The only reason it became his at all is because I chose to let him have it. So, all this noise about me stealing parts off of someone else's car can stop right now. And, TJ's right. You can eliminate all that latin "caveat emptor" b.s. because there was no buyer or seller here. There was a giver and a receiver, so the principals of capitalism do not apply. The only thing I received from Bud in exchange was a throttle body that I can't even use and four crappy rims, two of which were bent from bouncing them off the curb and another that the paint is so messed up that I'm embarrassed to put it on my car. Oh, and one more thing: I never asked for these things. I was just planning on giving the car to him. He offered these things, so I accepted.

Now, let's look at what Bud got. He got the turbo. He got the cylinder head. He got the manifolds. He got the transmission. He got the transfer case. He got three rims that weren't in much worse shape than what he gave up. He got the body that he can turn right around and sell for scrap iron. Need I say more? So, don't you guys worry about Bud. He made out just fine. Rest assured that he got a lot more value in barter for those crappy rims and that useless throttle body than he ever would've in the open market.

For those of you that are that concerned and want to know how the deal went down, read on. I'm sure that Bud will read this, and I challenge him to deny any of it. I'm not a liar, and I'll lay it out. Can't say as I know for sure whether the same is true about him. I'm not calling him a liar. I just don't know. Anyway, Bud contacted me and told me that he knew of two cars that I could probably buy for about $300 apiece that would help me put my stolen car back together. One was a Laser and one was a Talon. My car is a Talon, so naturally I was more interested in that one. However, the idea of him taking the car after I was finished didn't come up until much later. Furthermore, that concept was not his idea. It was mine. It was easier for me to come and get what I wanted, then find someone to dispose of the car for me in Illinois rather than towing it 450 miles back to Nebraska. If they can make a little cash off of it, good for them. At some point later, he offered to pay for part of the car if I wanted. I told him that wasn't necessary. I wanted a lot of stuff off of the car, so I told him that I wanted to buy it myself so that I could take all that I was after.

So, I talked to the owner of the car and we worked out the deal. I rented a mini-van (which was painful in itself) and made the 900 mile 12-hour round-trip to some podunk town in Western Illinois. I'm not bashing Illinois. I come from podunk Nebraska, so I can relate. It's just that this town was tiny. I spent six hours stripping this car. Then, when I was finished I waited for Bud to come and get the car. I was there when he picked it up. He didn't say a single word to me about the condition of the car. He could've nixed the "deal" at any time, if you want to call it that. In fact, I asked Bud if there was anything that I'd taken off that he had a problem with. I was willing to work something out if there was anything that he couldn't necessarily live without. He said nothing.

To any of you who honestly believe that I ripped Bud off in some way, you can put that stuff to bed right now. If anything I did him a favor. Yeah, I stripped the hell out of it. But as the car owner, I felt it was my right. Oh, and I never told him that I only wanted interior parts. I told him that MOST of what I needed was from the interior, which was true. I never told him that was all I needed, though. If you want to see the letter I sent him detailing what I needed, I've got it. He never told me at any time before showing up to get the car that he wanted to turn it into a drag car. He only said that he'd like to have the body. I didn't hear anything about the drag car stuff until he showed up to pick up the car.

So, to anyone who doesn't believe me, I've still got all of the emails that we've sent to each other. I really wish I'd recorded the phone conversations. This crusade against me is unwarranted. If anyone should be labled as a leper in all this, it should be Bud for talking so much smack about me. You know, if you throw a dog a bone, you don't want him bitching at you about the taste. That's what Bud's did, and it really wasn't cool.

Jon
