Got all the bad gas out of the new AWD. It is now running 110 octane. Changed the injectors and that helped smooth it out some.
Some of the problems now....will not rev past 6300 and takes a while to get there. It does not bounce off of a rev limiter it just won't go any higher......there is a loud POP coming from somewhere under the hood, can't tell if it is coming from near the intake or the IC. It you can feel it through the UICP and the sound seems to move. You have to hold the gas to the floor for it to start. We were thinking maybe bad fuel pump and/or filters??? When it does idle it sounds fine except for a hiccup every now and then that almost sounds like when your A/C kicks on. When you try to drive it you have to floor the gas and it seems to have no power and wants to go nowhere. Possible boost leak? I can attest to it not being that difficult. Ive gone through it countless times (and a new head) on my gsx before i got it right. If your doing it by yourself, its 100x easier if you get the timing belt tensioner tool. Its like 20 bucks if i remember right. The hardest thing about it was getting the stupid plastic cover off, gotta get a bit creative on which sockets you use to get to some of the bolts. And remember to loosen the water pump pully bolts BEFORE taking the belts off. Other than that, get the parts you need and its not too bad. I can get it tore down and back together in an hour after doing it a dozen times.
