Thinking about adding a sub and upgrading the front speakers. Did my brother's 90's Lazer back in the day and it sounded really good. Had 5 1/2" mids in the door and a set of 3 1/2" and 1" tweaters in the dash with a 12 in the hatch.

Was thinking of 2 routes, first one would be a removable box/sub amp in the hatch with a single 10" so I can ditch it for track days. Second would be replacing the stock rear speakers with 8" subs..

Anybody got any ideas they can share?

No, I did not have to modify the door cards in order to make them fit. The 6.5 Pioneers fit perfectly in the doors, the rears however were a different story. 6.5inch is supposed to be the stock size for front and rear in my car (some came with 6x9s in the rear instead so check before you buy a set). The same size 6.5s that fit in the doors did not fit in the rears well. I had to drill a new holes about 1/8th of an inch out from where the stock ones.

BTW, I put all my speakers in the stock location and stock brackets.
