What is the general consensus on drivetrain fluid choices? Are there some that work and others that don't? As my project nears completion it's time for me to start shelling out cash for fluids and I don't really want to pick one that may or may not work very well. If this has already been posted before please correct me. I am looking into fluids for my rear end, transfer case, and transmission (MT). Either ones that do work or ones not to buy would be helpful. Thanks

I use Mobile-1 gear lube for the xfer case and rear diff. I also use Penzoil Synchromesh (Autozone) for the tranny.

GM synchromesh = Pennzoil synchromesh

Pennzoil synchromesh is much cheaper. Works very well in my transmission.

Personaly I use CASE IH gear fluid. I think its 80W 120, either way i figure if its good enough to keep our combine going it will work for me. Might not be a good choice for some cuz we get in in 5 gallon buckets. oh well... But I have never had an issue with it in my Jeeps difs, trany, and transfercase!
