ok so i never found out or fixed the 240's problem. it is still doing it, though it doesnt do very often so i dont imagine the shop i took it to even saw the problem. but im beginning to think that it might have something to do w/ the intake. i want to know all about how throttle bodies work. i sorta have a vague idea, but need more info. do they not have a um "butterfly" sorta thing in them that opens and closes according to throttle input? if that is true, it kinda feels like maybe its not opening all the way, then allova sudden does. im going to take it apart to see what i can see and maybe that could be the problem. so any info would help greatly. thanks guys.

here's a link, or if you want I cut and pasted it some of it here for you to read.

the link really helps for newbies like me, it has pictures that help you to visualize it all. -not saying your a newbie. (person of wisdom)

[The "throttle" on a vehicle usually refers to the gas pedal, lever or grip that causes the thing to go, but in technical terms the "throttle" is the plate or valve that regulates the air going in to the engine. The engine then adds the right amount of gasoline to make the engine run. ]

In it's simplest form the throttle body is just a casing with a big hole in it. There is a plate inside the hole that rotates when the gas pedal is pushed down. (The plate rotates clockwise on DSMs.) When the pedal is fully up, this throttle plate is vertical and blocks nearly all the air from coming in to the engine. When the pedal is completely down, the throttle plate is perfectly horizontal and blocks almost none of the air.

thanks a lot for the info. i took it apart and it *seemed to be working all right. i turned the car and it wouldnt rev past 2500, probably because of no mas hooked up. so im not too sure on what i should do next. i am starting to get really aggrivated with it though so im willing to try anything at this point.
