Hey Spy, remember Dick Gobbler, he said you still owe him $500 for the penis pump and big rubber fist he sold you. Remember that? He said he doesn't want to have to bring it to court and smear your name in it, but he will if you don't pay up.

What I thought. You're the definition of asinine.

Pack of what? Kias? LOL... J/K guys. I've got love for the DSM's. To each his own. Do what you want and face the consequences or benifets that follow.

From what I've seen over the past couple of years, Spy has actually become quite a capable mechanic. I have no doubt that if the need arose he could rebuild an engine. Its not rocket science. Just takes patience, logical thinking, and some anality, if that's even a word.

Logical thinking is the problem. Spy couldn't even put together a peanut butter and jelly sandwich if his life depended on it. J/K!

QUOTE (akamiami @ Jul 13 2004, 12:09 AM)
I remember seeing a blaha flapper door on the infamous hughes 'fireball' gvr4 back before I could afford such expensive parts. I was amazed at the shittiness of its construction. Truly crappy. I wouldn't put the blaha flapper on my car even if they promised to buy me a new turbo when it buggered up the current one.

Although I think this description falls in line with the assinine one, I agree. I removed my flapper in the summer, but without it in the fall and winter my car would not run properly until warmed up. That crude little flapper did exactly what it was supposed to. I also used lock tite on the nuts when replacing the flapper to help prevent missing turbo fins. It's really not that hard to take the extra time for some preventative maintenance.

In my opinion this Blaha mod falls squarely into the DSM philosophy of building up performance with ingenuity versus dollars. Plus I've seen a well respected car or two that this sort of craftsmanship would blend right into.

Remember it's not how you stand by your rolling money pit that counts. It's how fast you can make that bitch run before it flips you off and skips town with the money you have invested. So keep it clean, keep it cheap, make it productive and tune it to the Nth degree.

Just my .02

Spy - This time a year ago you didn't even want to tackle a transmission removal and install. You've got that under your belt now. You have turbo and wiring harness, uninstalls, and installs under your belt. You've got tuning her down. You've got the hoist and the engine stand. An engine rebuild should be easy as pie.

I appreciate your modesty, but your DSM mechanical knowledge has grown by leaps and bounds in the last couple of years.

Btw, the $10 charge for these comments can be deposited in my paypal account.

i can vouch for the turbo uninstall install in a morning to make it too an auto-x...

i don't think it's his modesty... i think it's spy's complex that will cause him to argue with anything... I should set him up against my younger sister.. I think it would be a pretty good match... j/k.

I enjoy relaxing by the pool and watching re-runs of Star Trek Next Gen as much as anyone.

i think that this is more like me... cause i most certainly am not an expert mechanic cool.gif
