QUOTE (ranta18 @ Dec 24 2004, 10:42 PM)
Fastest ET wins the money. Sorry I didn't state that from the begining. This allows the car to get the best run of the day and not lose due to breaking an axle or something later on.

So, why exclude a non-caged car then? If fastest ET wins the day then fastest ET should win.

Seems like you are picking and choosing your rules here. If this is truly NHRA rules as you seem to suggest, than breakage would disqualify people as well.

So, if Marcus runs a 12.00 with no cage, his time counts. But if he racks up say a 12.5 and then an 11.5 and is ejected for no cage, you'll only count his 12.5?!

Seems fishy with more rules waiting to be divulged later. I thought we normally ran more 'gentlemen's bets' with friendly competition for the pot on here.

Sounds like there is some real interest in making this happen. How about rethinking some of these oddball guidelines?

Nate - The rules are there to make everything fair and safe. I don't see why you are thinking its unfair towards DSM's. Any car running 11's should have a roll cage period. Its for the safety of the driver. I don't care how good you think you are, accidents happen and the NDRA and NHRA made their rules for a reason and I think they are something we can use as a baseline.

I updated the rules on the first post. Here they are again:
RULES:
$100 to enter.
Fastest ET of the day wins all the money.
Imports only.
Anything allowed as long as it falls in the NHRA Sport Compact or NDRA rules and fall into one of the classes (you must say which). See their website for the official rules.
No funny cars, bikes, go karts, etc. Must be a car.
Driver must own the car. Proof may be requested.

Thats it. Looks pretty easy to understand to me. I am setting the rules because its my challenge. If you guys have some sort of personal problem with me, fine, I don't care. You don't have to like the rules. You don't have to enter either. I layed down my offer. Anyone is welcome to challenge.

Just a what if here but...

masterhonduhbuilder is the only one who enters the contest, and then his car is found not to comply with the NHRA or NDRA rules... who keeps the money?

LOL! Funny. But if that does happen, I'll donate it to DSM Central.

I will be in the NDRA Pro-Stock class and/or the NHRA All-Motor class.

Yeah, I heard the NHRA changed it to 11.49 for 2005....

Update: The NDRA is going along with the NHRA for the 11.49 cage rule. Good news for some of you guys without a cage.

I understand the rules are there for safety. But if a guy runs an 11.3 with or without a cage it doesn't change the fact that he ran an 11.3. What good does it do to take that away from him beside dull the competition. Its not like he's "cheating" or anything.

Like I said before its nothing personal, just my opinion.

Its cool. If I bend the rules this one time, then people will want to change other things too. I have to stick to the rules. And I don't want some guy building a car out of cardboard, running 9's, and then hitting the wall and dying. I don't want that on my conscience. I'll leave it to the NHRA and NDRA to decide what is safe and what isn't.

An 11.5x might win this thing. You never know. We'll all have fun trying to be the fastest.

there should be a separate side bet for the guys with actual street cars. The rules are simply this. You have to drive it there, as you intend to race it, all the way from your home (and no less than 50 miles). Any gas, any configuration, any power adders, any tires, but it must be street driven on _that_ day if no other. I'd say you'd have to drive it home at the end too, but don't want to exclude the guys who drive it so hard they break stuff in the process.

2 twenties to get in, so a $40 bet says that your vehicle can outrun anything on the street.

Sounds good Kris. You should start a thread for it.

Oh, and you bet your pooper our little wager is still on. And remember you spotted me 1/2 second.

Comments like that only bring down the site and thread. If you don't like the Challenge and are not going to participate, that is perfectly fine, but don't ruin it for others that are interested. Other people think different than you, so please show some respect for their different opinion. Thanks!

Darryll shall be some good competition. If he ends up going and gets some clean runs in, I won't have a chance. I'm still going to enter though. I don't care who shows.
