Ok, I need to port the O2 housing I have, where's a good place to pice up a 6" ferrous grinding bit? Summit has them, 3 for $53. Kind of steep and i don't think I'll need 3!

Hey black92_tsi_awd, How about we call yours the black knight? Just a suggestion, you can think about it. You were complaining of the name you came up with. Just my 2 cents!

It's probably not in your interest or budget, but if you want to hit close to a mid 12 on a heatsoaking, stock turbo motor, you at least should have some good tuning...For this reason, I would go all out with DSMLINK...Plug in the correction for the injectors, and add timing and less fuel until that sucker runs ~20psi (or w/e you are running) without knock...
Also, a good choice would be water injection...Since there's no upgraded i/c, you would be able to run well over 20psi with some water injection once you let on the throttle during those WOT pulls Just some thoughts, I haven't seen the mod list so I don't know what the current setup is -------------------- -Josh

Well I added a new thing to my future modifications, I'm getting another SMIC from Turbocar. I'm going to send out to have a larger outlet welded on (same size as my Buschur UICP) to help with the pressure drop of the stock SMIC.
I'm trying to decide whether to increase the inlet. I've got a fabricated tubing LICP that's pretty straight shot. I don't know if it's worth going with a bigger pipe right after the turbo outlet.....suggestions?? I also finished porting the 2G O2 housing. I'll post up some picts once I get them uploaded. -------------------- 92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD "The Black Golfball" How fast can a 14B go???

Looks pretty good, man! Let us know how it turns out in the end. Also, I have some leftover ceramic coating if you'd care to apply some to it. Shoot me a PM.

Well looks like my effort to run 12's might be delayed.
Bad engine noises this week to not bode well for my wallet. Spun a bearing I think...pan comes off tonight if I get home before dark. -------------------- 92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD "The Black Golfball" How fast can a 14B go???

Sorry to hear that. If things don't look too bad and you think you can safely patch it with new bearings I may have some brand new ones laying around.

The results of the damage are in, thrust bearing is hammered!!
It's actually cracked in 2 of the corners. Crank looks OK...running a nail over it, you can feel something but your nail doesn't catch. ![]() Soooo, does anybody know whether it's possible to replace this while it's still in the car? If it is, I pull other cap and see if the bearing are still good. Then maybe just swap the bearing. Although the little voice inside my head says "Pull the motor dumba$$" Any suggestions to cause? -------------------- 92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD "The Black Golfball" How fast can a 14B go???

Well I started getting the motor ready to pull this weekend.
Looks like I'll try to use the bearing failure as an opportunity to clean out all the extra vacume lines, charcoal cansiter and eliminate the balance shafts. Have you guys ditched the EGR? Also, Ive read that people have just plugged the fuel line to the the charcoal canister. Should it remain open to the atmosphere so the tank can vent? -------------------- 92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD "The Black Golfball" How fast can a 14B go???

You can block off the EGR with a plate. As long as your car isn't a Cali car or a 2G you can do this without seeing a CEL pop up. If it is a Cali car you can still do it, you just have to keep the EGR plugged in, or simulate the impedence of the EGR with a resistor.
I tossed my charcoal can a long time ago. I think I plugged the line going to it, but I'd have to look to be sure... |

Talk to Rob, he's the one that did my charcoal canister elimination. It's my understanding that you should, but ask him anyway.

I unhooked mine. Just leave the tank line open to atmosphere and plug the other vacuum lines up at the TB/intake manifold
