Has anyone heard of mounting a BOV to the side tank on a innercooler? What gains would you get from this? Or is this just to make the BOV louder?

Well, I wouldn't recommend it if you are still on the stock MAS...That would have to be some real Ghetto piping to re-circulate that sucker back to the intake...

People have done it, but more from a convenience stand point than anything else. You're not going to see any performance improvement from it, and it probably won't be all that much louder.

How is that a convenience? You would have a harder time swapping it out, I would think.

Convenient if one is piecing together his own IC kit. Maybe pipe or airflow sensor locations make it more convenient to put the BOV on the endtanks rather than piping.
