The ultimate question... What's the perfect AWD DSM setup? Obviously something different to each person. "What's it used for" or "what is your ultimate goal" are the typical responses. I'll supply the rules, you supply the mods. Let's see what we come up with.

Car will not have to be used for daily commutes. Weekend warrior, fair weather car only. Car must be comfortable enough to drive on the street, and possibly on a trip every now and then. Stock interior and creature comforts will remain for the most part (cruise, a/c power widows, etc.) Gas milage is somewhat of a concern. Ultimate goal - run mid 11's on race gas. It also needs to handle well, not just go in a straight line.

Suggestions I'm looking for -

Turbo setup
Intercooler
Fuel system
Engine mods
Drivetrain
Suspension
Tuning
Safety

I've got some ideas in my head, but want to keep an open mind. biggthumpup.gif

Can you tell I've been thinking about this stuff for awhile? All of it is opinionated of course but it would definitely be my vote. Some of the things on the list are things that I already have or things I'd like to have.

-Stroke it baby, with eagle rods and 8.5:1 compression (at least)
-With a stroker in mind, I am a big fan of ball bearing turbos, so what about a GT-30R
-Tial Wastegate reciruclating into the exhaust
-Tial BOV (they look good together)
-Crebotech Race spec MBC
-DSR FMIC w/ 3" piping
-HK$ 3" Exhaust (stock looking tailpipe)
-800cc injectors
-COP setup
-AEM EMS w/ wideband, egt, map sensor
-FRH intake with map sensor setup
-3000gt fuel pump
-AFPR
-Dual spring valve springs
-valve job with port and polish and .5" larger valves
-cams unknown right now. maybe the comp "severe competition" cams
-minimum 6pt. cage
-sparco driver's seat with harnesses (two seats are for looks)
-relocated red top battery
-I think a tein suspension would have more adjustability.
-AEM Big Brake Upgrade
-Volk Racing TE37's baby!!!
-Hoosier rubber
-Corner weighted

That's what I got so far. It's been a really long time since I thought about anything like this. Please be kind on criticism

JBone, I don't think there is a wrong answer to this question, so criticism shouldn't be an issue. It's all in how much you want to spend and the combination of parts you want on your car. An 11sec car can be made in an unlimited number of ways.

Nice list Jbone. Sounds alot like my set-up minus the expensive stuff. ie: AEM EMS, Volk wheels, Sparko Seats, TEIN suspension, and 3" IC piping. And the injectors are 850cc with the fuel pressure turned up a bit through a Walboro 255HP rather than a 3000GT fuel pump. biggthumpup.gif

How about some dyno test results?

As far as "different turbos" could you elaborate a little more as to how big these mystery turbos would be?

Rob,

If your looking at Garrett turbos there are a ton of maps here at Turbobygarrett.com
Click on small, medium or large to see the different sizes of turbos, then click on the desired turbo for the map.

Have fun!

The best setup for cheap is:
14B turbo ported
510-550cc injectors
Adjustable FPR
Stock 1G BOV or Greddy type S or RS
3000gt or walbro fuel pump and rewire
3" exhaust
2G mas and SAFC I or II OR GM Mas and translator
Hard IC piping
supra sidemount IC
2G exhaust manifold ported
2G O2 Housing ported
K&N with gutted air box
ACT 2100-2600
KYB shocks

The reason I like this setup is because if you bargain shop you can put it together for less then 2500. And the reason I would stick with the 14B to start is because this setup will give you about 280hp on race gas at 20 psi and you can run around 17psi on the street on pump if its tuned well. And if you get sick of it you can upgrade to a 16G and not change anything, then you can up the boost to 25psi and make around 310hp on race gas. And, If you get sick of that upgrade to a 20g and 650cc injectors and a front mount IC and up the boost to 28-30psi and make around 350hp on race gas.
Now as far as the perfect setup, go to shepracing.com and youll find it there.

That sounds like the makings of a VERY powerful street brawler Rob! I love the power delivery of the EVOIII 16g and your supporting mod list looks very complete and sized adequately without going too big.
