Great time, although the weather limited the turboed cars I think... my best of the day was a 14.5... definately a lot left in it though!

I couldn't make it. Asiankid and I worked our butts off last night to get-r-done. But it was not in the cards for me to go today. -------------------- |

Nope, didn't make it to this one Bud. I am saving my 14 second passes for SCDC. I did however make it around the block a couple of times tonight for the first time since the rod bearing incident of November... -------------------- Fast & Furious on the outside...DSM under the hood!!!

Thanks to Everyone that made it out to Cordova yesterday! And a huge thanks to those that tried to make it and were denied one way or another.
![]() It was definitely de-hydratingly hot out, but it was awesome to see so many great cars out there having fun. We had an excellent array of styles and talent. I wish I could have brought the Talon, but by the looks of it the heat would have made lackluster runs anyway. We had enough participants that we were able to bump the prize for all three racing classes to $100! Hammar took home the fastest Street car award in his 85 RX7. Chris Shenuk from Wheaton, IL took home the fastest race car award with silver 1988 Trans Am by beating Ron Kacir's Vega out of the hole. And Terry Barker from Atlanta, IL took home the bracket-racing award in his Flaming green 2001 Mustang GT. I have to throw out a HUGE hand to Hammar! Not only did he entrust me to pull a couple 11.4 runs in his RX-383 (First 11's I've ever driven thank you). He graciously refrained from kicking my teeth in after tapping his super car on the guardrail at 120mph! OMG that was the most intense driving I've had to do in quite a while. Luckily that was the last run of the day. Only a couple got to witness the craziness. Let's just say I was excited enough that I didn't think as straight as I would like to have. I actually made it through 95% of my third pass with nothing but adrenalin popping fun... then about 50ft from the finish line my brain short-circuited. I thought I was in 3rd gear on the ratchet shifted auto as the tach needle began to sweep by the 6000RPM suggested redline. I tapped the gear selector up a notch and suddenly heard the engine revving high off the limiter! Holy crap...I thought I was going to blow Hammar's engine. Instead of just letting off the gas, in a rush of fear I bumped the shifter back into gear A COUPLE OF TIMES! My mind immediately shifted to the need to straighten the car out as the rear end began to come around. Back and forth the car fishtailed 5 to 6 times! At one point the car was about 30 degrees off center. I thought it was all over at that point but I kept adding input, as I kept getting closer to the rail. I kept thinking how much I DID NOT want to hurt Hammar’s car and I thought the fish tailing would never end. Then the inevitable happened... The nose tapped into the rail and then the rear as I the tires scrubbed the wall! DAMN! It happened, but this short period of time not having to steer like mad allowed me to realize that the Engine was still screaming off of it's rev limiter. Only then did I realize I slapped the transmission into SECOND gear at the end of the run. I popped the shifter back into drive and the heroing madness that I had thrown the car into finally came to an end with easy straight line driving! I was so PISSED at my self! I pulled around to the time shack where they stopped me to sign a waiver and I got time to see the damage I had done to a friend’s car. VERY upsetting, but Hammar ran up and seemed very relieved that I was ok. He was very understanding and nonchalant about any vehicle damage. I was jittery and pumped with adrenalin for the next 45 minutes! I can't thank you and apologize enough Hammar! ![]() -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

I guess Hammar must be a Seinfeld fan, because I just stopped by his house, and it appears that Marcus is now his butler. He was cooking dinner and doing laundry when I was there. Nice!
