QUOTE (turbohcar @ Oct 12 2006, 03:26 PM) $1600 fine vs. $250 Max for a lawyer? Lawyers don't cost that much. The cost of a lawyer these days is very much overrated. I didn't explain myself very well... I don't have to pay the big fine unless I get another ticket. The fine I had to pay was like $250 or something and I made the other two pay it. -------------------- |

To get back off of topic...
I don't agree with a wreckless driving ticket for moving a vehicle three feet either. A 'Police Officer' is supposed to use common sense when siting the law. The law is a guide line by which to regulate safety. sure a tragedy could have happend and had said driver smashed the gas to the floor and the stomp on the breaks in 3 ft. that would be wreckless in my view point. If the driver were moving a slow steady pace for three feet because of some unruly friends I would probably stop them and do some serious talking about safety, but it would be moredirected at those that were onthe vehicle than the driver who moved the vehicle under the particular circumstances. I don't agree that everyone should be hit with the full force of the law by each individual letter at all times no matter what. That is usually what causes folks to have disrespect for officers. Common sense used in each situation is what I know that I respect to see in officials. And Jordan, you better not get bent over his comments because you started the harsh tone of this thread. ...Back on subject ![]() BTW - Lawyers are expensive in my book. Cost me $750 for a lawyer to lower a false drag racing ticket down to a $250 fine. Not cheap in my book, but it's minimal compared to all the times I've gotten by scott free for spirited driving. -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

According to my transportation class, Of the six weeks or so of training that the police officers go through, only 2 DAYS cover the numerous traffic laws
That's it. Unfortunately, we are caught in the wrong places at the wrong times with the wrong cops who seem they are there to interpret the laws. I spoke with an officer after I received my ticket about intersection right of way. He said that the ticket the other officer wrote would not be written by him, but he could see it standing up in court. WTF? ^^^^ How likely is that though? Like really... How many people do you think could actually remember it, let alone be paying attention and see either one? I think its fairly pointless. Yeah it COULD help... but in reality it's not enough to give a ticket for. Just another way for us to pay for our cops (even though I don't think that many of them are respectable anymore). All in all... good intentions... I guess.

People ID plates all the time, day in and day out. And if all you see is the front of the car when you're a witness, that front plate can help out a lot.
