QUOTE (awd4kicks @ Oct 14 2006, 09:28 AM)
No body said that Black92 or any 14b DSM was the fastest... You know that Brett, we don't have to re-educate you do we? tongue.gif

But IMHO Black92's car will beat all stock LT1's and most mildly modified LT1's. I know from experience... It used to happen on a regular basis. What does that have to do with racing a purpose built '81 drag Camaro with an Allston rear half? I have no idea. wacko.gif

Honestly Marcus, I have no idea.

It's pretty much just lame come-back for the e-jabs we're throwing. That and I though it would be cool to announce this guy was going to be there because I always enjoy a car that can stand on the back wheels.

PM sent Marcus.

QUOTE (turbohcar @ Oct 13 2006, 05:15 PM)
Surprises? Der will be no surprises boss. Just a turbo 4 wheezing at the starting line while I'm blowin him a kiss from my tailpipe! I think you'll be surprised. I've had a few of my fellow F-bod friends say this car is definitely a FACTORY FREAK without the giggle gas! FF Camaro!!! Woot woot!

It shall be very close I fear. Thus the reason I've placed a rather large bet with my booky on the black car....... ph34r.gif

How quick we forget the power of AWD off the line....I have a feeling your f-body will not be pulling 1.7 60'!!! I predict at least a .3 lead at the 60' mark, and at least .75 at the top end.

Factory freak or not, I'm glad at least you'll make some money from your booky!

As far as your buddies 81 drag Camaro, glad to hear he's coming. I've got alot of Chevy blood left in my veins, he'll be full to watch. biggrin.gif biggthumpup.gif

Awesome day for spectating except it was colder than the forecasted 62 degrees. A terrible day for most of the racers and two in particular.

Black_92 continues to impress me by driving there, turning great numbers and then driving home. My best 1/8 mile time was 8.039 at around 86mph with a 1.713 60 ft. I seen at least one of his that was quicker than that if not more. Good job man! biggthumpup.gif

And yes, all the racers had to run no more than the eighth mile after a horrendous crash over a gaurd rail by an 8 second Mustang! blink.gif I'm not kidding. It was the wildest thing I've ever seen in person. We looked over this car pretty thoroughly before he ran and it was SET UP. Super charger, air-to-water, fully customized, fully computerized, fuel cell, and ice cell in the trunk. parachute, cage, 5-point harness... the works. We were guessing a 50k dollar car.

We intnentionally watched his run because we knew it would be good. Well it was and it wasn't. He had MAD power, pulled the wheels and seemed to lose traction, got out of it, back into it and he was shooting down the track. Near the end he let out of it and BLIPPED the throttle while going nearly 130mph... In the blink of an eye the car turn 90 degrees to the left and shot over the left gaurd rail in a (No $hit) Dukes of Hazzard looking jump with dirt/debri comming off the bottom just like the TV jumps!!!! He landed behind a hill I couldn't see past, then it was just huge plumes of dirt clouds as you heard the engine full boar on, before he came to a rest.

The poor guy was a driver for the owner of the car. He missed death on the spot by about 6" I was told because the car was stopped by a light pole in the roof of the car right behind the driver. For about two hours they cut the guy out of the cage and life flighted him to the hospital. The car was mangled to oblivion as you might imagine. The driver was said to be talking and able to move his fingers and toes. WOW! Hope he's ok. ...And I don't want an 8 or 9 second car anymore!

A girl went down at the starting line on her crotch rocket later. I didn't see it but seen her laying like a wet rag between her bike and the gaurd rail after ward. They finally got her up and they took her out in the ambulance. Whew!

Then about 7-10 cars broke axles or drive shafts. Rear ends were turned to soup. radiators and suspensions were blown out. Corvettes spilling transmissions, Monte Carlos tossing belts and killing engines... It was a bad day for most cars. sad.gif

Let's see...oh yeah, Turbo needs to bring Pete or somebody next time, he got smoked!

If Turbo gives me his car number I can post the race results between us.

As far as the day went. A kid flipped a quick Mustang out of the track into one of the lightpoles at the top end. I beleive the driver was Ok, but was life flighted out of the track. Shut the track down for 1-2 hours, we had to run 1/8 mile from then on due to guardrail damage.

The rest of the day was vehicle carnage also. I'd say at least 15 cars broke. They had 5 break at the line IN A ROW!!

I ended up running a 7.92 @ 88.5 in the 1/8 mile. New personal best biggthumpup.gif I beleive that's about a 12.4-12.5 in the quarter.

521 was my race number.

I made two runs about a half hour apart. It was quite on the cold side yesterday and there were so many people, I thought it wise to get a couple runs and get outta there. My first I lined up against a Ford Contour, having no idea what I was going to run. The second pass was against Black92 and that's when the chick went down on the bike.

I ran a 9.01@78mph on the first and a 9.09@78mph on the second. Both had sub-par .5xx reaction times and pulling 2.0 60ft times, which I think are pretty good considering stock suspension and street tires.

I googled an 1/8th mile calculator and found that the 9.01 pass would have equated to a 14.09 1/4mile pass if I had arrived early enough.
http://www.wallaceracing.com/eigth-to-quarter-conversion.php

BUT, I did make a sub 12.5 pass there Mr. Blackbadarse92!!! No one ever said anything about how long the track had to be. biggthumpup.gif

All in all a good time. The girlfriend said it was like watching Pinks but without the talking in between. I've got video of both runs so if I can find a way to upload it to the net I will.

Well according to your calculator, my 7.92 come out to a 12.43 quarter biggthumpup.gif

Well our showdown came down like this

Black 92 / Turbo
r/t .310 / .553
60' 1.714 / 2.089
330' 5.127 / 5.937
1/8 7.920 / 9.098
MPH 88.5 / 78.06

You just happen to be there for my best run of the day biggrin.gif

I was pretty close on my prediction!

All in good fun, get Pete hook up and we'll go again!
I'll be there this coming Friday if you feel lucky. ph34r.gif

Nate, I'm glad I stayed together also. Watching all those car break and sitting in a DSM can make you pretty nervous!

Right there at the 1/8th mile mark I looked up thinking to myself "man he's like 10 cars in front of me!!!". I'll need to see if I can upload the video so everyone can watch as you whoop my pooper!

So, I guess this friendly competition does help pressure you to make better runs... yep, you can thank me later. J/K

I was just glad to see someone that I knew since I got there so late (around 1:30). I was quite surprised by their effective tech session they did on my car. The kid gave me a tech card and said, "fill it out and you're good to go". I guess my car looked pretty slow because he wasn't worried about it. They gave me a discount at the gate because I got there late. $20 for 2 good runs wasn't so bad I guess. I'll post my better run later.

BTW, those runs were with about 50lbs of luggage in the back of the car. Annie wouldn't let me take anything out of the car because of all the people there. She was afraid someone was going to steal it all and since I hadn't seen anybody I knew, I figured it was best. Hopefully next year I get some 1/4 times!

Competition does help!

I'd like a copy of the video if you do have it, the wife was videoing but let before that run.

Tech is usally pretty lax at the end of the year at Cordova. Unless you have wheelly bar or something!

My wife was a little freaked out when she saw all my stuff sitting in the pits unattended also. I've never had an issue, but you never know I guess.

If I can figure out how to upload it to a CD or to the Net I'll definitely give you a copy. A friend of mine and I are working on a movie and I think some of the footage may be used it in. I'll keep you updated with that.

Tazz from Cordova Dragway called me today. (Good guy) The family of the driver involved in the Mustang accident requested that the pictures of the car be taken off of the public forums. I respect that, and I have no problem complying. So I have removed those pictures. Please do not post those again for the family's sake.

Tazz also filled me in on a couple other details that I didn't have first hand knowledge of. The actual time it took to extract the driver from the caged Mustang, was about 37 minutes from the time the ambulances were sent out. That is pretty impressive! The actual down time from the point the Mustang wrecked to the time 1/8 mile passes were started up, was about 70 minutes. So they handled an extreme issue in a very timely and proffesional manner.

Hat's off the Cordova Dragway. biggthumpup.gif
