Good guys, lets keep making our DSM's better and better for the next season. I just started on my new one also. 94 GSX that we just finished swapping in a rebuilt 6 bolt. I also have full 3" thermal r&d exhaust w/ o2 eliminator. I also just got my box of goodies from slowboyracing.com today so all hell is about to break loose!

I might hold on to mine a little while longer. It's running pretty strong right now. Only problem I'm having is the boost guage line keeps popping off. I think I'll be fixing that with some compression fittings. Other than its tuned in pretty well on pump gas right now and runs even better on race gas. biggthumpup.gif

My dilemma now is whether to take it to the track or not. I enjoy driving around on the street so much that I don't know if I want to take it to the track and break it. Seems like I always break it at the track. And I DON'T want to spend any more money on it if at all possible. I've been good at resisting the mod bug lately and I don't want to succumb to the repair bug either.

Nate, keep it tuned EXACTLY the way you have it and race it. A lot of times everyone always tries to see how much more they can get out of it when they deviate from their original tune they had on the street with either race gas and more boost or other variables. Bottom line, you know how fast your car is the way you have it. As long as you take it to the track knowing this, the happier you will be when you leave in one piece.

And, yes, I am fully aware it's a DSM, so it could break.

I hear you Jbone and that's exactly what I'll do if I do take it. I'm pretty confident in the engine at this point. Its launching on the sticky drag strip that scares me. I don't want to break any drivetrain parts either. Launching on the road results in all 4 tires spinning. Launching at the drag strip at this power level could easily result in broken axles, clutch, driveshaft, transmission. I don't mind spending the time in the garage to fix these things. I just don't want to drop any more money into the pit. We'll see...

Well I had my car running. Not great but running none the less. Now it appears I need to re4place the timing belt. Found a tear in it and a small chunk taken out of it. This belt has less than 400 miles on it. It also appears to have jumped time. I was driving yesterday and when I went into third I felt a slight loss of power. My passenger didn't even notice it. I immediately lifted and when I pressed down again it would spool but no power mad.gif Got to work and the idle was down around 400. Looked everything over today and here is what I saw.

Those timing marks are with the CAS adjusted all the way clockwise just so that was a little closer so that I could get it home.

God I hope none of the valves got screwed up. sad.gif

well I sold the red gs-t that I had and purchased a black Laser RS-T which I am in the process of converting to a talon.

So far I have...

K&N
Intake
UICP
Spearco SMIC
MBC

The car also came with cross drilled rotors, a walbro 255(Im not sure maybe its a 190 but its darn loud)and supposedly an ACT 2100. Only time will tell if the clutch is an ACT.. biggrin.gif

Next year is going to be fun..Im hoping to race quite a few LS1's and overdue civic hatchbacks... biggthumpup.gif

Well, got the exhaust and engine work done on the DD so what's left is the sound system then the vvtl controller.

As the Evo goes it's a new MBC and ignition amp for starters. From there I'm gonna keep flirting with the idea of something to tune her with. We'll see!

Well I finally got around to doing a compression test to see what damage was done when she jumped time and the results are...........dry test, 140 on all four.........wet test 165-170 across the board.

Looks like I am one of the few lucky ones that didn't bend or break anything when the timing jumped biggthumpup.gif

Although it seems that my rings may be a little worn, but that is a little better at the moment than having to rebuild the head or more. Now I just need to buy a new timing belt an tensioner biggrin.gif

well, with the autocross season officially ended... looks like it is time for the GSX to hibernate for the winter... my next debate is weather to finally build this damn 6 bolt block and swap it in or just do the timing belt and water pump on my old motor and keep it in service until it finally takes it's last beating... with 108,XXX miles on the stock bottom end and nearly 30K on the reman head, I think it might be a driving time bomb, or it could just be working on a record... decisions, decisions!!!

I let it idle for 5 minutes or so before doing it, so it wasn't cold but it wasn't up to normal operating temp yet either.
