Plan on a DSMCentral meet in LeRoy sometime in the spring. I haven't set a date yet but I plan on having a cookout on one of the warmer spring days. I want to see the Talon there Marcus!! LOL

She is definitely alive & kicking. Running pretty smoothly I might add. But alas, she will have to go under the knife again before the party starts.
While attempting to set the base timing and looking for oil leaks, I found a fairly healthy amount of oil leaking from behind the timing belt cover. Not on the belt luckily. I'll be pulling off the acc. belts and T-belt cover to get a look at 'er soon.

Being that most of the events are held in Peoria, I thought it might be nice to have one between the Champaign and Bloomington areas. Not only that, but I haven't had a decent get together with friends since I moved into my new place. There's plenty of parking and I just got a grill donated to me by the neighbors that moved out. I figured why not.

im up for a gathering almost anywhere just to get out the house. ALthough we will need to wait a few weeks because I shipped my turbo off today and wont have it back for two weeks.

Finally got a few miles on the Buscher block tonight.

Through out the weekend I was able to put over 250 easy miles on the new engine. After I got a fresh EPROM from NCGalant on Saturday morning the engine purred like a kitten. I have a new respect for the factory tune and the engineers that came up with it. The engines I've run in the past few years didn't seem to run as smooth as this one, and the most notable difference was the stock tune chip. Thanks NC!
So far I'm half way through the main portion of the break-in proceedure. I've now got new spark plug wire protection sleeves installed to shield from premature grounding and the excessive heat between the engine and hood. Also ads a look of professionalism to the assembly. I finally made time to install my home made upper control arm extenders on the rear suspension. I made these things over 3 years ago and have finally used them to remove the negative camber from the rear wheels! So the short term plans are to change the oil tomorrow eve after work, reset the suspension height, take her in for a 4-wheel alignment Tuesday, and to knock out the rest of the break-in miles by the end of the week. I've got my fingers crossed. So far I'm very happy with the new set-up.

At about 390 mile now.
I also got the alignment set today. Wow it was way off every where! I do plan to run auto-x this year and I want the car to turn. At the same time I also wanted to go with a bit more tame set-up. The coil overs are set as low as I can get the Pro-kits. I set the front camber to -1.5 instead of the 2.5 - 3.0 that they were at. I had the rear camber set to factory setting of -1.1. This looks much better than the 0 setting I had them at after installing the upper control arm adjusters. The tow on all four corners had to be reset. That was a bear for the technician, but he got them all within spec. Driving smooth and looking better!

After some logging at the party last night we found that my initial boost was set to 10-11psi and running no knock as you would expect. NC and I made some pulls and got the boost set to 17-18psi with 0-1 count of knock when pulling in the correct RPM band.
I took her out for a little spin today and all I can say is... My DSM batteries are recharged. This thing pulls like a F***ing freight train for a DD!!! This is why I love DSM's man! Boost isn't coming on until about 4k RPM, but the power gain is exponential from there up to the stock rev limiter at 7200RPM. The 2.4 stroker definitely gave more instant throttle response, but the over all power feels similar on the ol' butt-o-meter. I think I will adjust the cam gears to move the power band a little lower in the RPM band and raise the rev limiter to around 7700RPM (500 more than stock). That should allow me to stay in the power band from shift to shift. Right now it seems to take a couple hundred RPM to get back on top of the HP oozing spool as it is right now. So far so good at round 650 miles though.
