I'll take you up on one of those helmets, Mike. Might seem kinda weird to the Cordova staff if I drove up to the box with a roll cage, 5-point harness, and no helmet.

QUOTE (CHEF_EG_1 @ Sep 8 2003, 06:21 AM) holy crap, it's only 2 weeks away. is a front fascia required to enter the competition? What about a hood? Sorry Chef, but I'm sure that a hood and front facia are required. BTW - I will also bring a helmet along that people can use when I don't need it. Otherwise those who are fast enough will have to borrow others or fend for themselves. -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

if they're going to require that you wear a helmet will I get thrown out for no roll cage then? it would really suck to only get one run for 50.

Not sure what you hope to run Kris, but if it's gonna be faster than 11.99, that could be a real possibility. Cordova has never been real good at teching cars that I've seen, but then I've never run faster than a 13.9... I'd say take it easy for the first couple runs and see what happens.

Hey Kris, you should be fine from what I can read!
Please everyone go to http://www.cordovadrag.com/pages/Rules/tra...rack_rules.html and view the track rules. If you have ANY questions please feel free to ask! -------------------- |

Is a roll cage required for 11's? I thought it was only required for 10's or faster. Then again, maybe Kris'll be in the 10's. |

Darryl would probably be the authority on this one, but I'm pretty sure it's 11.99 or 10.99 for the cage and 5 point harness.... I also think that this is when you have to start wearing the fire-rated jacket and gloves...
To find out for sure you would have to check the IHRA rules. I'll look if I get time today... -------------------- The fastest car I own is a minivan....

Without rechecking I'm positive that a cage is required once you break into the 11's. At the same time I've almost never worn a helmet that is supposed to be on when you make any pas into the 13's. LEt's just say I've had plenty of those.
With no cage and times in the 11's or less, what I think will happen is you will get one or two full out runs making those times and then someone will tell you to only go full throttle to the 1/8 mile to be safe. There will be a lot fewer people than normal, but I'm not sure if this will mean they will be more lax or strict. Eitherway, they have to try to be as safe as possible. -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

I guess I'll know better what to expect from the car at cordova after Battle of the Imports this weekend. I read cordova's website and I didn't come up with much other than what was already posted about obtaining a license. Maybe they are being non-specific about track policy to avoid suits or something.

Joliet Route 66 is very strict! Cordova generally is not. I think overall that IHRS is less strict than NHRA and the NHRA rules are 11.99 or faster for roll cage/harness etc.
I have seen them require helmets at Cordova especially if cars have a T-top roof. But in general you are going to be fine unless you blow off an 11.2 in the first pass down the track or something like that. I really would not worry about it much. My two cents- Susan Darryl would know a little more about IHRA but we don't know much because we always go by NHRA and they are always stricter and require more at a slower time. -------------------- |

The IHRA requires a roll cage at 11.49 or faster, and I believe helmets are required at 13.49 (possibly 13.99) or faster.

Thanks Susan! I was looking around for some better info, but they make you buy a copy of the rulebook to find all that out! Bastards.
