yeah, I've never seen a rod in that condition before. Seen em seize and snap, but nothing like that. It was literally melted.
After seeing the piston pics, really check your valves over careful. It may even be worth pulling them out to check and make sure they're straight. They definitely made contact. -------------------- 1978 Mustang II King Cobra

Dear God!!!! I'm thinking clogged oil passage at that journal??? Actually, it would make more sense if it was still getting plenty of lube, but there was a burr or the like grinding on the crank/bearing/rod whatever. Oil allows it to keep spinning, builds heat as friction increases and kaboom! Scary to think that the rod was in the 2000* range when that happened

well it would probly get some oil from sloshing through the pan. would make sense if the oil passage in the crank was plugged.

That's the ugliest mess of a thrown rod I've ever seen. Well at least its really really broken so you won't feel the need to try to fix it and end up here again in a couple months. I guess the wife will just have to wait
