lowest dropped 1G, how low can you go??? Options

what is the lowest dropped 1G eclipse anyone here has had that is still streetable and racable???

I am purchasing springs for my car and I have had people tell me that I can 2.5" without problems but I have never lowered a car that far before.

not that I dont believe the people I have asked, I am just taking a general consensus.

What is racable? You can go as low as 3 1/2" but you will need to work on the camber either way you go.

You can go pretty darn low if you want to invest enough to correct your altered suspension geometry. Adjustable camber plates mostly. Race-able: you could go pretty much to the ground as the strip or road course will be a nearly perfect surface. Streetable though, you'll want to figure out how much clearance you want to avoid scraping on driveways, speedbumps, and potholes.

From your post it looks like you are just planning on purchasing springs though. You really should consider replacing the shocks as well. Lower your car significantly and keep the stock shocks and they will most likely give out in a hurry.

What's your suspension budget look like? And what are your main goals for it? Looks or performance. Comfort vs. handling, etc.

struts are already purchased, KYB GR2 struts (AGX was hoped for but the budget limited that)
the springs I was looking at give a 2" drop which will lower the center of gravity, and a bushing set is also purchased. and a better rear sway bar is also in the plans. (thanks to kris' advise)

My Talon is lowered about 1.75". I'm using stock length Koni's currently, but have been told if I go any lower The shock/struts need to be customized to work in the lower position without bottoming out. Plus I believe that you will be on your bumps stops during normal driving unless you cut them down.

Camber and tow-in adjustment will be required with any significant amount of drop. I've lived with funky camber for a long time though.

My car is waaay too low for my comfort. Dropped about 2.5" to 2.75". The driver side front rubs when I take right turns and both fronts nail the bump stops every time I hit a big bump going too fast (which is actually pretty slow considering how much I slow down for bumps). well, thanks for all your efforts to help me decide what suspension to get for the car, I am going to go with the eibach prokit so that I am not spending money on a kit that 6 months from now I won't be happy with.

maybe buying from eibach, I am paying for a name, but Eibach has a name for a reason.

Uh oh. Yeah, I thought the intrax springs 'looked' nice at the ride height but hadn't had a chance to drive on them. I assumed that something with the 2+ inch drop would have been stiff enough to make up for it in spring rate but it sounds like that's not the case.

Ironicly that car (with those shocks on it) was the shop car for www.engineered.net (I think, have the find the card somewhere).

Seems like a steep price though for just the shocks if the springs are that crappy. I'll help you sell them off via the website or trader when you replace them or buy them back for what you think is a fair price if you like.

Thanks for the offer buddy. I'll probably take you up on the sell them off your website part, but you're not responsible for the springs quality. I knew when I bought them that you hadn't driven on them so you couldn't vouch for the ride quality. You don't need to buy them back off me.

well guys, I ordered the eibach prokit today
that combined with the KYB struts I have already bought should be a pretty good road coarse set-up

not a bad setup. you're right, they don't have a name for no reason. good marketing can go only so far. example: apc. apc is in almost every magazine you look at because they pay the big bucks to be in them, giving them a household-like name. i know, however, that some of you will agree with me when i say apc products, for the most part, are $hit. there's really no polite way to say it. they suck just wouldn't do it for me. apc is a company that spawned the likes of civics everywhere trying to gain valuable horsepower by wallpapering their cars with stickers of companies that are nowhere on their vehicle. they have always, still do, and will always promote and maintain the ricer image that the status quo views all import tuners as.

eibach, on the other hand, is known for quality. so when you drop a buttload of money on a suspension setup and eibach is written on the gear, you didn't just pay for the name, you payed for the reason they got that name: performance and quality.

i agree apc is everywhere so i gave them a try and everything i bought from them has fallen apart
a buddy of mine put an apc muffler on his scivic and it sounds like a tractor
