the f***ing tranny of a dsm will go out on you. My little "piece of monkey s***" went out on me this morning on the way to class. It is too early to tell what it is. Slo-pony ain't open yet, but I will have there within the hour to see how much my a** can handle being raped from this piece. I am extremely pi$$ed off right now. Last time I got this pissed with my car, dents were made. Good thing I know that dents don't sell a car.

That sucks. Josh will do a good job for you though. He's inexpensive and competant.

either $4500 for a used transmission or pay $1k for a rebuild. their goes a good $7-900 towards a new car. oh wait...i don't even have that money to put towards a new car. yep...really pissed off right now. i offered $700 for a "turbo" that was out in Mossville. let's hope he calls before i fork out this dough.

$4500 for a used transmission!?! Hopefully your getting a whole DSM AWD turbo car with that transmission.

Even a grand to rebuild it seems high. Is that quoted by Slo Pony? If so, the whole case and all must be trashed.

BTW-I heard that turbo FWD in Mossville actually had the turbo removed and the rigged it to run without the turbo! Just making sure you know this before you get your self into another DSM mess.

Where is this one at in Mossville? I am there every other Thursday and don't remember seeing one? Is it in good condition? Who is the owner? I am considering selling the GVR4. I am probably going to be coming into a lot of money from my settlements, so I don't know if I want to completely redo the Galant or just sell it and buy something else to play with.

Sorry man...That quote is good. I forgot that you had the ultra automatic transmission.

i meant to say that it would cost $4-500 to get another "ultra automatic" transmission not $4500. ANd i offered $700 for that car. they were asking $2k for it. I am the one who found out first hand that the turbo had been removed. I was aware of what i was getting into. i could pay $700 for a car with tubo potential (thus having 1.5 cars) instead of $700 for repairing a piece of mother f***ing s*** car with no potential whatsoever. but i'm not mad. i could always collapse at this instant convulsing and die![/b]

Whoa...your starting to take this turbo envy thing a little too far Jbone.

These cars are fun pieces of plastic and metal when put together in the pretty shape of an Eagle Talon, Eclipse or Laser. But for crying out loud thier just big piles of material that we like to add labor and money to. All in an effort to move this conglomeration of earth minerals from one location on this planet to the next in a certain amount of time. Might I add that this amount of time is a preconceived notion of progress based on what other carbon based earthlings have wasted their short life spans on.

Dude...it's just a car. And a DSM at that...which means it will crap on you. They all do...even the next one you buy.

Have fun and lighten up man. There are more important things to worry about.

Hahahaha. I am glad that you found it uplifting and funny, I was getting ready to ask him to repeat it in English.

i am sol because of how rare the '94 1.8L "ultra" auto tranny is. 15 'yards called and nothing. So, if anyone wants a REALLY BIG paperweight, $1000 will take care of it and the stereo (which is worth $1000 anyway).

Would a 4G63 fit in your engine bay? maybe a 4g63 with a Manual Tranny? Honda guys have been doing massive work for years to make Auto into 5sp and there are many 2.0L turbo DSM's that have done it. It's a lot of work if you're attached to your car. But it might be cheaper to find a good engine and decent/rebuilt tranny from a junk car or Engine dealer than to buy a whole new DSM or continue a futile search for an Auto tranny.
Also, is that 1.8L the same as the Neon motor? Any other cars that share that motor? perhaps there's an enthusiast group that could take it off your hands and trade that motor for the money you'd need to get a 4G63 motor/tranny?
Just some ideas, no experience with the 1.8L Auto so I don't have much else but suggestions to look into.

Good points Banno. Infact the Laser engine that Brandi aka 'BQNoel' is looking for happens to be a 1.8! I'm not sur how hard the swith would be, but there are opportunities to find out.

I am going to the bank today to see if it is feesible to buy Sitzmore's "virgin in white".should I put the car on ebay and get the "virgin" or sell the engine and put in a new assembly and start over? I am thinking of doing the previous, but selling the engine for ~$500 to BQNoel. Also, is that a respectable price to sell the engine? I looked at car-parts.com and $5-600 was the going rate. "I'm so confused  "
any and all comments are welcome.

My FWD will be ready for selling before too long. I just have to get one of my engines back in it.

Yes I think $500-$600 is respectable for your 1.8. As far as which car to buy I'm not sure. Without doing the work yourself, swapping in a turbo engine and 5-speed into your Laser will become very expensive..fast.
