so my brother recently acquired a new talon. when he got it the car had a slight miss I thought ok I should be able to take care of it. picked her up got it home. checked out the plugs 3 were ok. 1 had the tip completely blown off. I thought wow this is prlly the problem. threw in some bpr6es and away she went smooth as can be.

now the problem, no more than 36 hrs later car comes back 3 tips GONE 1 tip smashed to zero gap. car barely runs and does not like boost at all. only known problems with the car is an exhaust leak. I saw what look like some signs of a bad head but have not narrowed it down yet. I'm wondering if this is something any of you guys have seen before and had any solutions.

I'm also wondering if anyone has a logger I can borrow to throw on the car and see what comes up on it.

its a neat trick let me tell ya. Motor turns brand new day old plugs and takes the tip of them its pretty neato blink.gif

Anyone want a 90 awd that does tricks lol
1400 and I'll throw in a good block with a spun bearing and a box of goodies including a set of 450's, mas, flywheel, fuel rail, egr and other randomness. Even some cam gears and a alternator that needs to rebuilt.

Or if you want the car offer me a new ride. And we can work out other details. Something reliable and gets some good gas mileage and looks decent. Most likely a that other car that we shall not name.

Sounds like the head may have been milled too much? blink.gif Sounds like pistons are hitting the plugs, which is never a good thing.

Suggestion to a newb... don't part it out. You have no idea how much crap is really in one of those things... laugh.gif The money can be ok, but you have to dick with 10,000 boxes, shipping, internet flakes, and so much more. I'd suggest trying to fix her... if it's in good shape, it's worth a whole lot more that way!! biggthumpup.gif

LOL. I thought about that. But wouldnt it hit the valves first?

Seems to me if the cam timing is correct the valves should be closed when the piston is at TDC. But I'm still not sure if the head can actually be milled down so much that the piston makes contact with the spark plug before hitting even closed valves. The spark plug electrode doesn't protrude very far into the combustion chamber.

justin if you didn't figure out a fix for your plugs yet try backing them off about a turn or so after they are snug it is not a great fix but if it works put it in like that with some loc tite until you can afford a new head. i did it on my last cherokee to keep it from slapping the plug and closing the gap on piston number 6.

and soccer, what kind of dsm do you have year? model? body and int? miles? i might be interested pm me with more if it is indeed for sale

its sold to Rob now it was a 90 AWD. What it turned out to be was that headgasket blew and it bent a valve or piston was toast. Compression on the #2 cylinder = goose egg.
