My biggest problem is that these turbos dont seem to use the O2 housing,, and I have a Full 3" turbo back exst, that i spent a grand on and i am not going to just throw it away. lol anyway thanks for any help. I've read some VERY bad things about those kits on DSMtalk. From what I've heard the welds break on the manifold and the turbos are chinese knockoffs that blow the seals out within months. Those are just things I've read, not my first hand experience. I personally have had good luck with Dejontool and would recommend, along with many others on this board, a turbo from forced performance.

You could do a search on DSMTuners for your question. I have read good and bad about the turbo kits. The ss chrome kits are supposed to hold up better than the rest.
I myself had looked at those kits. You will have to get a O2 housing made for it. It is not a direct bolt on setup, and they don't sell the O2 housing either. Just my 2 cents. -------------------- |

Like most car parts, with turbos, you get what you pay for. I'm not saying you have to buy a high dollar HKS turbo, but at least check out some of the reputable DSM vendors before buying a cheap ebay turbo.

I'm sorry to hear that you spent a grand on that exhaust. You should have gone cheaper on that, and spent the money on a good turbo. Stick to places like slowboy racing, dsmtuners, machv, ffwdconnection, ect. if you want to find the good stuff.

I second Nate on the turbo thing. As I have been searching for a while. The price looks soooo good to you and me. But you get what you pay for and it probly won't last like a mitsu turbo or a Garrett.

I know that these more experienced guys prolly know more about quality turbos and things of the sort but I have been reading some really bad things about ebay car parts lately. In almost all of my magazines there is an ad a few pages long describing certain ones and how the foreign companies make them look the exact same but are only 1/3 the quality. My good friend Cory has been having trouble with ebay lately and Im starting to head farther and farther away from there.

www.extremepsi.com is a good and fairly reasonable place to buy from.

I would have to partially agree that parts from ebay are not up to the specs that the higher priced parts are.....
what I mean by partially agree is that if you are buying from one of those vendors that have the huge ebay stores... 90% of the parts are the cheap chinese knock-offs. however if you are buying parts second hand from guys... most of the time they are good parts. you just have to shop around and know your parts and what to buy from who. I will strongly agree with nate, ncgalant, goat and the other guys here that mach V, slowboy racing, dsmtuners, ffwdconnection and Dejontool are excelent places to go for parts.... shop there for the parts that take abuse and are safety items, shop on ebay for dress up stuff that doesn't take abuse and strain. -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

iron goat nailed this one. I don't understand the mentality that drops coin on a premium exhaust, and then scours the net for bargain basement turbos.
There are a very few select companies I'd ever consider buying a turbo from, this is perhaps the most crucial single part on the car in terms of performance. -------------------- my cars breath smells like car food

Just use this in your head when your on ebay.
"if it looks to good to be true it is junk" I was pulled in by the price. Man that is a sweet deal, nice shinny parts. But you have to do your research. When the seller don't even know what he is selling then........... Well that should give you a clue. I generally buy from individuals on ebay! It may be used, But at least they know what they got and how it ran on there car. -------------------- |

Ok everyone has said just about what i though, and ya i have dropped alot of coin on this car, and i am really happy w most of the results, but i have been through 2 stock turbos sofar, and i am about ready to drop another 800 on a turbo, so if i could have gotten the header too that would have been sweet, I need a Header more than a turbo at the moment well that and a new ECU,, I can not go past 3/4 throtle or i hit my fuel cut lol,, the last install was an under drive pulley, well thanks for all the input, I will probably go with the FP big t28

I would want to figure out why that's happening before I throw some cash at a new one. Also, you don't need a header. At all. Period. Is it helpful on a hellacious turbo when you're running a super low ET? Sure. Do you need it more than a turbo? Not a chance. The stock 2g manifold flows very well; a little porting takes you even farther. Pull your ecu out and see if the caps are leaking. If so, find a set of them on MachV or somewhere else, and have them replaced at a TV repair shop or something similar. The underdrive pully you picked up is, for the most part, a fit of pique. These aren't Hondas. That pully will net you about as much hp as the free mods ... maybe. Go find a reliable upgrade path, and follow it. Get your fuel management under control, make sure your intercooler and piping are up to snuff, etc. -------------------- QUOTE (gsxracer80 @ Oct 31 2006, 12:41 AM)

You'd be far better off spending the $800 on a 14b and fuel mods then a bigger turbo. But understand that you will see the same gains out of a well ported 2G manifold and the manifold will be less prone to cracking as well as keeping your engine bay much cooler. |

Well I have read about the headers cracking,,, but i also have a stock man, that is Cracked BAD,, I am looking into getting my ECM recalibrated, too, No i have not gone with over-sized injectors, and untill i get the current issues taken care of i am not sure if i need them. like i said b4 when i flip the switch i get extra fuel in the form of a super cooled gas, (propane) IF i could Prosess it all I can reach full boost @ 2400 RPM. but like i said I got a major exst crack, and i am moving to much air for my stock ECM, haha I got the car close to done and i have put a buck or two into it, and i have went all high end equipment so far, I could have gotten the same results or better going a little different rout, The plan was to do all the (SUPORTING MODS FIRST) and keep going. lets just say it has been DISCOURAGING as far as all the BS MAGS GOES I should have over 300 HP I SERIOSLY FKN DOUBT THAT. I MAY BE @ 280 AT THE CRANK. Does anyone know of a AWD DYNO LOCAL PEORIA
