Yeah, I'm going to stick with the FP3052 for now to see how it spools up. The power will obviously be available and all the supporting hardware is there for it. If I find that the 2.0 does not spool her up fast enough I will strongly consider going to the EVOIII 16g since it will have MAD spool and 380HP capabilities. It would be another money loosing proposition though... So we will try the big one first.

I have a prediction that it will spool faster than you think Marcus. Give 'er a shot and we'll see.

I pulled and partially disassembled the 2.4 over the weekend to get the head and radiator chaecked and fixed where needed. Here are some pictures of the ventilation made by rod #3. Note that the Oil pan gouge has been hammered flat so I could get the T-case off. And to my surpirise I found that I could see all the way through the block when I started taking pictures. Aparently that rod came out both front and back where it was hidden by the starter. The starter took a couple minor hits but looks ok.

Can you see the scoring and gouging on the bottom of cylinder #3 inside there?

Got my Fluidyne radiator repaired already. Kalina tells me that 12 out of my 16 valves are bent/warped! I'm sure #3 piston hit it's valves, but the others must be warpped from excessive cylinder temperatures. It's not uncommon. It's expensive to the tune of $540 when you talk about that many 1mm oversized Ferrera valves. I can get a new stock head for that price but then I would lose all that I have put into this one. I will probably just have them freshen up the head with all new valves since 3/4's of them need replaced anyway.

You're back on the right track though Marcus. Keep it relatively simple and use the resources you have at hand. You've got a lot of money into that cylinder head, why give it up now.

I'm just now getting the project rolling again since Christmas took a larger bite out of the budget than expected.
As usual I have to be experimental to some degree. A much less risky degree this time though. I have just ordered 16 new 1mm oversized 'Manley' valves from Winner's Circle. It's true that I have been buying Ferrea for the past few years, but it hasn't seemed to have saved me anything by spending the extra to have 'The Best'. I was very unhappy to find that the latest set of Ferrea valves warped after only 2000 miles of break-in and tuning. I can get the Manely valves for about half the price saving me around $200 on the total head rework. The machine shop feels tha both Manely and Ferrea are good valves. To top it off SloBoy tells me that they strictly use Manley valves in their own engines! Having said that, there is always a hint of doubt. Manley is a good quality name in the Domestic world, I just don't personally know anyone running them in the 4G63 even though SloBoy sells them. -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

I'm going to stick with the FP3052 unless I find it doesn't spool-up fast enough out of a slow corner. Then I will go to an EVO3 16g. I have a feeling the 3052 will do just fine and the monetary aspect of the change will be a break even proposition for less HP at best.

I don't think you will find that to be an issue, the 3065 spool is very close to the 14b in my old DD. I was hitting full boost before 3800 last year.
-------------------- Yeah!!!!!!!!!!! AND WASH THAT THING OFF BEFORE YOU COME BACK!!! GROSS
FP 3065, Ported 2G exahust manifold, AEM EMS, 3" 02 housing, Shepard Racing Stage 3 tranny, Fadinza 8 LB. flywheel, Exedy stage 2 tripple puck thick ceramic cluch, 08 from the tank to filter, -6 to rail from filter, Aeromotive FPR 1:1 riseing rate, Crower Stage 4's. All of that and I don't know what I want to do next. |

I finally got the broken 2.4 stroker totally disassembled tonight. Amazingly the shrapnel beat up piston number four and broke three out of the four oil squirters. You can see in the first picture that the crank took a little beating but nothing too deep. The second picture shows a piece of the block rotated and beat into it's own hole at the oil galley under cylinder three. The las picture id a final farewell to what is left of the engine I picked up in Chicago about four years ago when I began this stroker experiment.
Bonvoyage!
