AWD DSM 1
QUOTE (gsxracer80 @ Apr 8 2006, 08:34 PM)
why are we nit picking the rules..... I have an idea.... write a list of the mods done to your car that you are claiming..... have a tech at the track look at your car..... the tech then decides if your car can run in the class you pick to run in or if you have to change to the next up class.

Still building my car at the moment... If I throw something on it that will bump me up a class, I may hold off on putting it on, or take it off for the event...

sneaky, I know....

The rules have been kept fairly simple and mean what they say and only what they say.

Which means that you must use a stock OEM turbo on the car, not a 16g/20g on a 1g or a 14b/T28 on a 2g to be within the rules. Big advantage to the evo's with the 16g stock. Factor in that the rules don't prohibit meth/water injector and you've got the makings for a very low 11 second evo to take the class. cheater turbos like the white rabbit on the evo could make et's drop even faster for those who want to win no matter what.

My evo would be sitting in street stock and could be a possible contender even without water/meth injection but my gsx would be severely outclassed it it's group.

I think that this thread on page 5 by miami clearifies any issues with the rule books....

I am sure however that if I were to claim that my EVO III 16G were in fact a 14B and I took street stock, there would be a lot of pissed off people and rightfully so.... and I don't even think that they would have to open my hood to find out that I switched turbo's cause the times would tell all.... it would be pretty difficult for a 14b car to keep up with my setup (my driving is another story)

long story short; if I were to run mid twelves and the closest 14b in the class were to run high 13s it would be quite obvious that I should have been in a different class and would expect to get challenged for rule book violations....

what we had done last year is allow 16G cars in the street stock class. it worked out pretty well.

Eric

form this post it seems as though 16g will be allowed in the stock class.

that's the one post I haven't liked...if it come stock with a 14b, then it should run with a 14b.
mitsu90
I think they are makeing it a little even sine the EVO's come stock with a 16g, the 14b's wont stand much of a chance.thats why I decided not to bring my bone stock talon.
AMS
Guys, there simply are not enough cars to get this specific on classes. I hate to be so blunt but its the way things have to be. I would rather have 5 fields 10 plus cars deep then 10 fields 5 cars deep. There isnt much excitement in that.

Eric
akamiami
good way to put it, Eric.

Though I'm sure it would make somebody very happy to take the trophy home for first place in the 'Red 1g FWD with a 16g on 550's, tuned with a MAFT' class, the rest of us would rightly just throw our hands up and say 'WTF, who cares'.
Rizzo
not that this matters much to me but I have had people ask about stock class. Are NA cars in the same class as evos and such?
AWD DSM 1
I think you guys are missing the point slightly... I'm more concerned with what mods will bump you out of stock class... I don't want more classes, just clarifiction on the ones that exist. I think there are some grey areas that leave the door open for argements.

IMO, I'd like to see stock class include mods such as 16g's, 2g MAS on 1g's, up to 550 injectors... anything that can be found on a stock 4g63 motor. I think it levels the playing field so all cars can compete.

Just my .02.

Cuious. Is a 14b 92 talon awd in the same class as a 03+ evo8?
If so, woe to the dsm.

Had that dsm ben allowed a 16g, perhaps it would be more of a race.

Hopefully, we can have someone in authority come out and say...
A dsm can have a 16g and still race in the stock class, or it can not have a 16g and be in the stock class.

Evo is still sporting a 4g63t.. with a twin scroll 16g...
might as well throw a bone to the dsm's! biggthumpup.gif

I kinda like the idea of that my self.... especially since with my 16g I might accually be able to compete.... in street modified, I am afraid that I will be severely outclassed....

but as the current rule sheet states.... I am in street modified until a change is made.

black92_tsi_awd
Is there a pre-registration for this event yet?

I was curious if there was, if it showed what car was running what class? At least until tech decided otherwise.... tongue.gif
AMS
if it looks like a stock turbo, it can be entered in the stock class. Much like the stock appearing class at Shootout.

I'll be there...Watch out for me in the Stock appearing class....Can you register for the races when you get there and can you run a FMIC? 2 things I didn't know...

Yes you can register at the gate. We will have an internet sign up sheet posted soon as well.

A few have asked about the FMIC, I will get back to you on this thread about that.

This event is exponentially bigger and more complex to arrange than any event we have held before. So these things do take a little time via my part time stature. wink.gif
AWD DSM 1
Let us know if there is anything we can do to help kicks...
Ralliartist
wish I could be there to race or at least spectate but unfortunately I won't even be back in the states until Aug. I'll definitely be at it next year!
awd4kicks
Ok I will need some help to pull an event like this off succesfully. I would like to get some volunteers for the following areas:

2-4 people to collect at the gate and hand out tech cards
2 people to guide traffic at the gate
1 person to make final call on tech inspection and classification
2-3 people and cameras to run video throughout the race
(Or if someone knows of a camera crew or company that does this)

Please e-mail me directly at awd4kicks @yahoo.com or PM me here if you can help. Any suggestions are also welcome, but please do it privately to cut down on gossip.

Thanks!
AWD DSM 1
I'll volunteer for gate help as long as you promise it won't be as hot as slow pony day! biggthumpup.gif
black92_tsi_awd
I might be able to help at the gate also, how does that work if you want to race also?

I'm trying to work out the logistics of getting a baby sitter so I can finally bring the wife to the track, so what time would a "gate keeper" have to be there?
awd4kicks
Gate worker may be able to alternate or trade off, but they will be needed from about 8:30 am to roughly noon.

I wish I could do more. I don't feel like I've contributed much to the group lately. Unfortunately, I'll be in Florida during this event.
