Who'd a thought...religion and car converge!!!
Nahh, I'm not trying to start something. It was just an observation. Events are usually planned to get as many people to go as possible, a holiday weekend sometime works against it and sometime towards it. I was just trying to bring that to everyones attention. I've worked trips to the dragstrip around alot of family obligations, but I don't think I'll get away with leaving Easter Sunday to go to the strip.

if you're jewish, that particular sunday is a non-issue and in fact saturday is a holy day for many religions. You can never please everybody. Nobody is saying you can't have a service on the dragstrip, in fact, I think some burnt tire would be a decent offering, Old Testament style.
Funny, I was just reading a totally kick-ass thread on on honda-tech.com (
here's the link) and saw this quote in some guy named rochesterricer's signature that I found amusing.
"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."

I agree that you're always going to offend someone, but the whole ressurrection comment, while meant in good humor I'm sure, was pushing it a bit. Let's just agree that it's a bad weekend for some if not many, and hope for as big of a turn out as possible.

Well I would have to say, Bringing AMS to the meet should get a HELL of a turn out.

As far as the date is concerned...I can understand this would make some Aethiests happy, but it was a mistake. I did a very thorough job of picking a date that didn't interfear with other track days, but I neglected to check the calendar for holidays. The fact is most people will not be able to show simply because of family gatherings and responsibilities. I don't think I would even be able to swing it if I hired a pastor to have a service for us all at the track!
I will update you all as soon as possible. More than likely this will give everyone more time since the next available dates are in June or later.

Jan 25 2006, 09:19 AM
Agreed. I might be able to make it by the skin on my rear, but I doubt it. Later date would be more agreeable for the car, and my rear.

did you get your evo? just curious what color/trim etc...
Thanks guys, Marcus has been working very hard for us to assemble the event and with what I have given him as a starting point I think he is pretty close to a class breakdown as well.
what we (AMS) will be doing is offering prizes and payouts for each class win hopefully from 1-3rd place. I got quite a few sponsors on board from last year and im sure now that we are bigger I can do the same if not more this year. it will be more then worth your while to make it out for the event. Last year we gave away over $8000 in payouts.
Looks like the lucky weekend will be july 4th weekend but we have no solidified it just yet.
Thanks again goes out to Marcus for taking this off my shoulders this year. with NDRA, One Lap of America, Time Attack, shootout and the slew of other events we are running I just didnt have time to put together midwest mayhem this year. Im glad we are still able to do something for the community.

Thanks Eric
I've been puting the Sport Compact Drag Challenge together along with Slo Pny Drag Day for the past 3 years with the help of some of DSMCentrals finest and Cordova Drag Park. So I was already geared up to get an event rolling.
AMS's additional support is exciting for the growth it will bring to this event. I'm not sure if everyone understands the full impact of this joint effort. Here's a hint... The Quick16 class among many others!
AMS is meeting today over the details I presented. Once I get word back we will do the final editing of the classes and rules so we can start getting the information out to everyone.
I hope to make this event even more beneficial for everyone now with AMS's support.

FYI I'm used to seeing eliminations go down in a very common way. However, I never knew it was called Sportsman eliminations. That is where the number 1 qualifier races the last qualifier. Then the number 2 racer lines up against the second to last and so on. This alows the semi's and finals to be stacked with the faster cars and and makes for closer and more exciting racing.
Thanks for the explanation Eric.

That is a pro ladder or eliminations. A sportsman ladder has 1 vs. 5, 2-6, 3-7, 4-8.
After that if all the higher qualifiers win its 1-4 and 2-3.

I normally take all opinions worth a grain of salt when they differ and I have no personal experience to back either one up. In this case let's just say the number 1 qualifier races the last qualifier and so on. That is, until I get a clarification on the wording.

Oh it's stock, for now. I'll keep it stock long enough to participate in this event for sure. Then the big hair dryer goes on.
My main fear is if Natedogg still has his EVO or Black_92_TsiAWD, they'll definitely be contenders. Nate is well, Natedoggimus Maximus, god of all that is good in the Tuning world. And Blackboy, well he's just got that factory freak beast and the whole launching thing down.
