information that I have recieved actualyl leads me to believe that in fact MTIN is responsible for a large portion of the downtime. Leaving a 3 PS server plugged in on ONE PS till it shuts down then plugging a different one in is a bad way to keep hardware in tact

there is no nfp anymore. i think selling the server is bullshit. it should be given to someone that actually cares about cii and will try to restore it to its former glory.

All of the dumbasses on CII who refused to registere on any other site can now suck it. We have all records so IF we did sell it the money could be doled back out based on percentages. In addition, all of the money for the server in itself was DOUGH NATED. I hope I spelled that so you understand That means you put the money in the trusting and loving hands of the NFP to do with what they please.

Anybody is free to start whatever central illinois forum they want. But CII will not ever be returned to it's former glory thanks to a certain person who owns the domain name. CII and whatever else is his, so would be up to you or anyone else to make your own website, but with CID, DSM C, CSS, and Euroturds I think there's enough.

i'm not gonna act like i know everything.. but from what i was told by ben back when he purchased the server is that netter donated like $3xx.. he never mentioned how much curt donated.. whats funny is that we had to raise $1000 but the server was purchased on ebay for $7xx
anyway donation is a donation.. not buying your way to a decision

anyway, i have noticed that i dont spend as much time online now.. i must say, i honestly miss cii.. it was nice having a little bit, ok alot, of off topic.. plus there are so many members that arent registered on these other sites.. you cant blame it on them sucking or being lame or stupid.. if they dont have a domestic, or a euro, or a dsm.. why would they join those sites?

because all it had been the last 8 months was stupid import fanbois making fun of everything domestic and teh domestic guys firing back that all the domestics on the site were faster.

It was nothing but retarded trolling which is why I quit going/moderating the place at all. Travis drove off/banned almost every one of quality and pissed so many of them off that most won't ever go back anyways.

Now when I read/hear CII I get a sick feeling in my stomach and never want to hear its name again, I know David and Curt and Jim all feel the same way.

most people outside of Curt and David donated 10-20 dollars, Curt and Netter together donated a total of over 500 bucks. I have all the paypal records, the only other remoptely sizeable 'donations' were payments for advertising on CII which also helped pay for it as well.

The server was 784 dollars, now its worth maybe half that

let CII die. its the right thing to do.

I agree this thread has come full circle and has been as usefull as it's going to get.

I also agree there are probably enough web sites out there for our local group. Just as Image stated we are also very open to other owners and some topics as seen in this thread, but the main content of this forum will always be centered around DSM's as it should be.

BTW - There were absolutely no other local web sites for our hobby when I started DSMCentral. It's been very interesting to watch the rise and fall of these things. It's a tough thing to balance and God knows DSMCentral is not perfect, but we have a very strong core group of members that keep this going in the right direction.
