This is a post from Eric Vicary on CSS on the driver's condition along with some other helpful information:

talked to Brian Chelf's dad today. Brian is at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, currently in surgical icu. He does have some paralysys below the belly button, doc's dont wanna speculate at recovery time, if any.
The collapsed lung is healing well and there is some spinal cord bruising, caused by a shift in the lower vertebrea. the docs are currently working to get the spine fused together. He is said to be in recovery and therapy in the next day or so.

I assured the family we all from this area are praying for them and hoping for a speedy recovery. I also told his father that we would be trying to set up a benefit of some sort in the near future, as to help any way we can. Seems like they are very nice people and have a good attitude with the situation. Brian does have health and disability insurance, so everything will be in good shape there, however the family will need every bit of help we can give. His dad said that Brian is in good spirits, with a positive outlook toward recovery.

As soon as he is moved to a recovery room we will be able to send cards and whatever. His dad has my contact info, and I will post here to let everybody know where to send.

In the meantime, all of us from this area will need to give whatever we can to help out. Jason and I will set this up to where we will use Paypal or cash in hand and be transferred to the family, and I will absorb any costs of getting it there. Your contribution will be noted to the family.

Feel free to call me for info 309-267-7989

Wow, glad he's alive and in good spirits. Was a hell of a wreak and could have been a lot worse. Hopefully the paralysys will go away.

Post up the paypal information when you get it.

Update from a crew member posting on CSS:

...Brian has been released from ICU and is now on the 6th floor at UIHC. He appears to be doing well. He has not gained feeling or movement in his legs but we are still praying and hoping for the best.

Thanks, Chad

Cordova closed the track again tonight due to pending rain...of course it didn't rain after they closed it. Of course they closed it 10 min AFTER I put $15 worth of 112 gas in...

Benefit I beleive was moved to next Saturday.
