Okay here is the deal:
1. We will need to be at the track between 11:30 to 12:00 at the latest. I would suggest to join the caravan that I am starting. But just in case I will give instruction on how to get to Cordova even though I have never been. Trust me I did my research I hope!

For instructions please see the bottom of the post.
2. The Money issue: WE do not want the money to be turned in early to DSMCentral via in person or over the web. Sorry if this makes it hard for you to go but it is the easiest that we can come up with. The entry fee will be $50.00 at the door PER CAR! Note** spectators get in free!!! If you don't have your 50 bucks you better look for a friend to loan you the cash. We will not accept anything but cash at this time but it may change. We will keep you posted.
3. Food - The concession stands and race gas pumps will be open for all to take part in. These things aren't exactly cheap, so I would suggest eating before you get there or bring a cooler and food. My caravan will be eating somewhere along the way. I would also suggest to bring lots of water.
(Edited by MAC)4. Help will be needed!! We will need people to help us make this as smooth as possible so maybe we can have a 2nd annual SCDC. This is what we will need:
- Money collector at gate - no view of the racing there
- Video recorder - someone with a camera to get all the action
- Time slip tally - Someone to review the posted times and rank them for trophies.
Please do not hesitate and sign up today if you or someone you know will be willing to take score
5. Driving directions - from Peoria take 74 towards Galesburg and stay on this till you reach near the Quad Cities. 74 will turn into 80 for a short time after you pass the 280 exit. Go about 10-15 miles till you reach Illinois Route 84. Take Route 84 north for about 15 miles and to your right you will see Cordova. Here is a map of the general area of Cordova Drag:

My cell # is 314-221-9579 if you get lost or have any questions, it "should" work there so you can call me.
I will be heading out at about 9am from Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino so I can eat lunch and make up time if we have a car break down. God forbid if this happens.
Thanks

Thanks Mike! And just to make sure were all clear on this. Cordova personal will be keeping track of all times for us. We however will need to tally these up for the trophies our selves. That's where we need help.
Thanks in advance!

It's time for another meeting to tie up our remaining loose ends before the Drag Challenge in two weeks.
I propose that we meet up this Wednesday at about 6PM at Applebees in East Peoria again.
I have sent in the $200 deposit.
Nate has ordered the trophies.
Spy, Jbone and others have passed around flyers and word to locals.
Mike has formed the Caravan.
Cordova will be keeping track of all time slips (Usually by car number or the last four digits of your soc. sec. number.)
Now we still need some one to take entry money on the day of the race, a person to video tape the entire event, and someone to help tally the time slips and keep track of the racers for trophies.
Let me know who can make it. I NEED at least the following people to show up, so let me know if this schedule will not work.

Wed should work fine for me Marcus. I think I'll go ahead and volunteer to either take money or help with the timeslips (or both..) as long as I'll have pleanty of time to make some runs.

At this point I'm hoping to drive the car up (and back

) so I shouldn't have a lot of setup/teardown time for the car. (Key word here being SHOULDN"T)

And just so I'm clear... Caravan will leave from the Par-A-Dice hotel at what time?

Will leave at 9am so I figure that we can eat breakfast at galesburg or somewhere north of that if we can! I dont know the route to well, but I would imagine that we can eat at some country kitchen or something.
Also my girlfriend (Sara) said she will be glad to be the money handler at the font door so none of us miss anything. She also said she will help do the time slips but does not know anybodies names so she may be like a back up help.

Thanks to everyone that showed up tonight. Here's what we determined to date:
Dan's sis will take money at the front gate. If we can get anyone else up there to keep her company and feeling more secure holding the cash that is a necessity.
Scott will tape the entire event with Dan's Video camera after he get's a second battery.
Scorp will also try to locate a second digital video camera to get a different view of the entire racing event. We will eventually combine and edit these videos into a single 'Imports-gone-wild' documentary!
Since Susan has volunteered to help keep track of the time slips for trophys, I think we should go with that.
Otherwise, I will be traveling to Cordova early Saturday to make sure everything is set-up and ready. (Not much to do...just in case) I will need those people that are helping to show up a bit early too. The park is open to us at 10AM and then open to the racers to start racing at noon.
Thanks again!

Depending on how you are planning on doing the time slips, I can do money. That isn't a problem as long as you are planning on having people submit their best time slip at the end of the racing. Not to collect time slip but rather for me to look at and write down. I don't care either way but I thought I would throw that out.

I will not be racing my car but maybe 2-3 passes if that! I will collect the money at the gates! the way I think about is if everyone should be there by 12:30 or at the latest 1. if they come any later then that then we will now cause they will not have any writing on the window! there Money problem resolved!

Susan,
Cordova will keep track of all the times for each car. We need you to help organize which time fits into which catagory and all for trophies.
Mike - Thanks for electing to take the gate money. Rob has come up with some good sign in slips that will help us to catagorize the cars. I plan to help do that at the front gate as well.
Again...any one that plans to help should show up a bit early so we can get everything lined up. I can collect money until you show up with the caravan Mike. But that's when I'll really need the help!
Thanks!

Nope, No safety requirements required by the drivers PJ except for a helmet if your in the 13's. All drivers will sign a waiver at the gat and then a Cordova employee will tech. each car for safety. That's just to make sure your battery is secured and you have no profuse leaks, etc.
BTW- Rob and I came up with a tentative Gate watch schedule. Anyone that's included in the list that doesn't want to do this let me know ASAP.
11:00-12:30 Marcus
12:00-1:00 Mike
12:30-1:30 Susan
1:00-2:00 Kristy
1:30-2:30 Rob
2:00-3:00 Nate
2:30-? Marcus
Obviously if no one is coming in after a certain time, we can evaluate abandoning the gate post. We will play that by ear.
I will be leaving at about 8:30AM Sunday morning from Peoria. I'd like those that are helping to come along early as well. Dan, Scott, Darryl & Susan, Brian, Rob & Kristy? Can you guys let me know if you can or can not make the early trip? I plan to arrive around 10AM so we can go over all the ins&outs with the Cordova people. Plus I'd really like the camera guys to get the action right from the start.
Thanks!

But we will offer our services. And yes, we can make the early trip - well I have not checked with Darryl but I am sure we can.

I located a DVC, (on the shelf at Wally World

Sure fire way to get an AWD tranny in by yourself. I know its a heavy SOB. Jack the car up as high as you can. Slide and position the tranny underneath so the bell housing would be nearly touching the pressure plate. Keep an eye on the front and back side because it is a tight fit. Lower the car on the jack as far as possiblewhile keeping an watchful eye on the tranny and the lowering car to make sure you don't crush anything. This should put the tranny right next to the engine so you should only have to lift it a few inches. Now here's the hard part. From here you have two choices. The hard short way or the easy long way.
Hard short way: bend over the tranny side of the car and give the tranny the ole heave-ho until the shaft slides in the hole. (Calm down guys, I'm talking about transmissions here)
Easy long way: It long because you have to remove the battery tray (if you haven't already, and you have to drain the radiator and remove it. But, what this allows you to do is step inside the engine compartment with the tranny underneath you for much better leverage. Put your right foot on the front crossmember and your left foot on the ground if it will fit or on the subframe member with the steer rack underneath. Find a couple of good hand holds on the tranny and lift her up and onto the engine.
Hope this helps.

possably bad news guys
my sincronizer is going out on 2nd gear in the gsx.
since this is my daily driver i'm not sure weather to race it in this condition. also another not so new problem resurfaced again today, maybe someone can help me with this one.
when i shifted into third merging onto the interstae on my way to work today my boost built up, and then my car misfired bad enough to damn near throw me into my steering wheel.
i have NGK R plugs and NGK wires on it and that really helped last time i was having this problem, but i wouldnt think that they would go bad already, ive only had them on the car for 2 months, help me out guys so maybe i can race on sunday

Just take it easy on 2nd... you'll be fine.
Your "misfire" almost sounds like fuel cut.... What are your mods and what rpm/boost were you at when it happened? Fuel cut is when the ECU shuts off fuel for a breif period of time because it sees too much air. Feels like the car shuts off for a second at WOT.
