I've been stuck in the world of 14b's and evo 16 g's ever since i've been introduced to cars...within in the next 4 weeks i'm going to purchase a big silly turbo. I'm kind of new to that realm of turbos.

I will acquire whatever supporting mods are needed.

My goal is something that will slap me easily into the 12 second club with a lot of room to push the car to even lower times with proper set up and tuning. The goals I have for the car is mainly a track car, that is streetable. By streetable I mean that Ihave a dd, I wold just like to occasionally take the car out around town and romp on it. I know it is hard to set up a car with two goals in mind, but I enjoy autocrossing almost as much as I enjoy drag racing. The set up will slightly favor the drag strip.

money is absolutely no issue. I know i'm looking at dropping a couple of grand on just the trubo. I've been hearing ball bearing and 50-60 trim.

I've looked around at the information, but am relatively lost, and would appreaciate getting straightforward information from trustworthy members of the board who have personal experience with larger turbos.

if you need anymore information about what i want in a trubo, just ask, ihope i provided enough information.

thanks in advance.

3065 is too buku if you want my opinion. It's definately not an autox turbo.

I like my 3055 because as fast as it spools it leaves me wanting a little faster on the autox course and as hard as it pulls it leaves me wanting a little more kick in the pooper when I'm going in a straight line. It's like you said you wanted, a big turbo capable of great drag times that also happens to spool reasonably well and never leaves me hurting on the street drivability.

The new FP3052's would be even better IMO, as they are slightly more spool conscious and have even more streetable characteristics with nearly the same ultimate power potential.

I think if you were willing to invest the time in two completely seperate tunes, such as one for race gas at say 30psi and one on pump gas at perhaps 20-25psi then I really think you'd never desire anything else from a turbo than what FP has made available.

Also remember to factor in all the extra costs with a turbo. When I bought my 3055, it was only 1K. But the external wg, custom 02 housing, oil, water lines, etc. ended up costing an extra 600 or so easy, and it would have been double if I hadn't made my own 02 housing and downpipe. And that doesn't even begin to touch the realm of cost of supporting mods to _really_ use such a turbo or cost of broken parts once it all starts working as planned.
