wont start? Options

hello all, i've encountered a problem. Last night i got into my car and it wouldnt start. It just clicks from under the dash when you turn it over. The starter doesnt engage only the clicking noise.Its never did this before,so has anyone had this problem before and what should i check? And yes i know dsm's break themselves

well no luck yet, i manually engaged the clutch switch, didnt start. i double checked the wires on the starter all are tight. the battery is less than a year old but i still took it out and had it tested check fine. so anyone want to buy a car runs great must push start j/k. anymore ideas guys

He did say he had the battery tested and it checked out. The starter went out on one of my previous DSM's. That's what I would guess. You can check it by manually putting 12 volts across the leads on the starter. It will be easier to check if you take it out. Just be careful to keep your fingers away from the gear and use fairly thick guage wire because the starter motor creates a large electrical load.
