Shootout was Awesme, as usual. Saw Buschur's conquest run a best of 8.99, shepard run a 9.10. Shepard also shot a guy in the chest with a piece of his intake manifold. Apparently some sort of nitrous backfire blew the thing through the hood of his car. I'll be downloding some pics later. Lots of sun(burn), too. rolleyes.gif Next year, I WILL have a car with me!

Got him a trip to the hospital. Apparently it could have been a lot worse, had the piece hit him slightly differently.

A big thanks goes out to Rob and Jim for all their help this past weekend. The only thing that didn't break on the car was the motor.

Last week the car dynoed 668 hp to the wheels!!! This was with the nitrous and very conservative tuning.
The first past on Saturday the car bogged and then took off hard in first and second. I've never felt this kinda of power. I was told I might need a diaper. When I reached for third gear nothing was there. Nothing. No grinding just the engine like it was in neutral. I played a little then just coasted to a 13.55 !?!? I shifted out of second at 9100 rpms. We pulled the tranny to find 3rd gear missing all the teeth, the intermediate gear kinda chewed and the center diff much the same. I went to the shop with Dan Buschur and rebuilt the tranny replacing the broken parts as needed. Came back to the track installed the tranny in about 30 mintues or so with the help of Rob, Jim, and some of the Gateway DSM guys.

Sunday first pass I purge the nitrous properly and the car didn't bog. It took off spinning all 4 tires and then I saw parts sparying from under the car. Some even bounced off the walls. Turns out the tail section of the transfer case exploded when the output shaft snapped off. The drivers side rear half shaft also twisted off at the same time. I unknowingly launched the car too hard.

I installed the back up parts with the help of Jim and Rob and made it up for the final round of qualifying for the Quick 16. I easaed it off the line with a 2.008 60' and then let her rip. It ran a 10.74@139.3 and qualified us 5th. The power is there!!!! Didn't get another pass because the car developed an oil leak behind the oil pump sprocket. Hell it was gushing!!! Oh well didn't have another seal so were done.

I post some pics of the damaged parts soon.

This weekend at the Gateway NOPI event we're looking for 9's!!!!

Jim did not run his car. He's got a bad CAS on it, and is not getting any timing to speak of. He discovered this when he took the car to an AWD dyno in the Chicago area to tune the car. Only ended up putting 250hp to the wheels, but he's definately got more than that on tap. He's hoping for another 100+ hp once he get's his timing issues worked out.

We'll be there all day Sat and Sun as long as we have parts to keep the car going. I think the first round of qualiying for the Pro classes is at 3:00. THat will be the first time down the strip on Saturday.
