Anyone with a very good knowledge of 1g DSM's please give me a ring when you get a chance. I've got no spark on this Crazy GST and I want it out of my garage. TIA

Might sound stupid but i had the same problem on my 90 AWD one time too, make sure that you have your connector on your coil plugged in tight and not loose, also check all your fuses, are you sure its the spark thats the problem and not the fuel? i wish i could help more, but i guess general knowledge is better then none

Something to tide you over until the heavyweights chime in with some real advice. You've pulled the plugs are getting no spark from any of them? Car turns over still when cranked but no spark right?
I'd trace the ignition system back and recheck all the elements. Coils, grounds, fuses and spark plug wires. The little power transistor dealy-wob ok? Sorry I don't have an 'Ah-hah' solution for you though. -------------------- |

My first guess would be the coil. Try another coil Im sure someone has one laying around. I have a 2g coil but that wont work.

I just talked to your dad here at work about it, Rob. I think its either the coil pack or the transistor pack if its not any fuse or wiring problems, like Travis said. If your injectors are also not firing it could be the MPI fuse, MPI relay, or even a bad cam angle sensor signal. I told your dad I should be able to take the logger out there either Tuesday or Wednesday to see if any codes show up.

Thanks Nate, appreciate the help. I know I've got fuel to the injectors at least, because one of the o-rings was bad and it started spraying fuel everywhere.

Personally I'd just start with standard troubleshooting, like changing out old cheap parts that MIGHT solve the problem but if not, could prolly be due to be changed anyways. I had a similar problem on my 1.8 and I simply changed out the plugs, cables, pcv valve, dist. cap and rotor and used some injector cleaner and afterwards the bitch ran fine. *shrug* cost me like 50 bucks but like I said, they were all parts that I am sure needed to be changed anyways.

Here's a thread you might want to follow. Sounds like the same thing as yours but no resolution yet. Guy's replaced everything we've mentioned. Might help in case he solves his first:

Just a little tid-bit of info in case you didnt get your car running all you need is an Analog Multimeter to read the trouble codes from the ECU. If you need more info let me know.
Also I also need CAS if anyone has one pm me. |
